Hi all. I have been to my first nutrition class and they suggested purchasing a "magic bullet" blender for after surgery. Does anyone who has had surgery own one and use it? I don't want another unused appliance under my kitchen counter.

Thanks.

I hate kitchen appliances, but I LOVE my Magic Bullet!! It really does work quickly--and you can zap up small amounts perfect for post-surgery mushies. And the storage tops and ease of microwave/fridge/dishwasher is cool. I definitely use mine almost daily.

I I use mine already for my Protein drinks and today having started purees look forward to using it. It is small, which is great, and really inexpensive at costco. I think it is a great investment.

I've had one for over 5 years and have used it for so many things. I made my own baby food with it and know I'll be using it for me after surgery.

I've already used it for a few shakes I was taste testing.

worth it

I just use my regular blender and I'm fine with that. So if you have a blender and don't want another appliance, I would skip the bullet. However, if you don't already have a blender, the bullet is a good choice for the kind of blending tasks you will be doing. The bullet got a terrible review from Better Homes and Gardens, but the convenience of making your drink right in the cup makes up for the fact that it can't blend a frozen margarita as well as a conventional blender.

I love my Magic Bullet. It so fast and convenient for all my purees. I even took it with me on our trip to the Smokies this weekend. It would have been a pain to lug around my full-size blender.

I have wanted a magic bullet for some time now. I received a GE single serve blender as a Christmas gift and I love it. It works very similar to the bullet from what I can tell. It has a smaller cup and a tall cup. A cross blade for mixing and a flat blade for grinding. And other stuff. It's under $20 at Walmart, so you can compare it to the others.

I bought one and have used it only once. I have a little $10 food chopper that I use three or four times a day. I actually wonder why I wasn't using it before now that I see how easy it is to mix things like tuna salad in this little chopper.

Basically, the magic bullet is fine but you will have a short window where you are on liquid. After that, almost anything can puree pretty well.

Like Kelly, I went with the cheaper version of the bullet from Walmart and I have been really happy with it. I actually used it yesterday to make spaghetti sauce from scratch with tomatoes from our garden. :)

Wow, everyone is in favor of the bullet! I bought one prior to surger because nut classes/nut suggested everyone get one. Yes I used it the first 3 weeks during those phases, but now it has become one of those useless kitchen gadgets..... My regular blender would have been fine, I would have saved $$$ and storage. I just dont cook or mix enough to use it on a regular basis.

I had a magic bullett for years before my surgery. I never really used it at all. i dug it for the surgery and I have not stopped using it since! I make Protein drinks with it, add fruit. I used it to mush my foods and no I use every time I am chopping and cooking!

I used my MB a lot before I had surgery. but now that I am in my 'prison' aka the Mushie stage until July 1st, I use it several times a day.

Some suggestions:

1) It can be tedious to clean it several times a day. So for me, if Iam blending chili (I used Hormel Fat Free Turkey) I open 2 cans and blend them one at a time, then put into one container with a date. Then I measure out 1/2 cup for a sitting and cook in the microwave.

2) Make sure there is enough liquid to keep things moving along. Other wise you may be shaking the MB to get everything to blend. Some liquids I are plain Water, lemon or lime juice, or even broth.

My favorite combos are:

A hard boiled egg, half an avocado and lime juice.

A can of chicken breast, 1 TBS of Fat Free mayo, and a half of an avocado.

A can of tuna, a dollop of relish and a TBS of Mayo or Peanut Butter. it sounds gross, but it is tasty.

Good Luck

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
