Hi Everyone :)

New at this, but feel like I need to communicate with others that share similar lifestyles.

As of tomorrow it will be 2 months since my sleeve. My start weight was 278lbs :( I was miserable!

I lost around 15lbs preop and stopped smoking as well. I'm not sure if my weight lose is on track or

not, because I have not seen my doctor since 4 weeks postoperative. I'm now at 232 and feel GREAT!

However I find that I can eat more than I should be able to. It's scares me cause I get hungry alot and stoped drinking the protain shakes I'm going to See my doctor this week and I'm afraid to because I think I'm failing. :(

Now you sound like me...I'm the only one who gets to play the failing card!! LOL

You'll hear from all the experts that you are OK..thank God we have a great bunch here cause if not for them I'd be face first in a tub of BBQ 2 weeks ago!! I'm being educated by the awesome folks here on how to eat..I'm so nutrition stupid it ain't funny...but they are all helping me ...I eat 5 bites of whatever I'm eating and I stop I have the fear of hurling so I don't push it if I'm still feeling hungry I have Popsicles ;)

Let us know what the doc says...congrats on the smoking!!!

Will be thinking of you!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
