Hello all. My name is Chuck and I'm a newly sleeved member of this world. I had my procedure done on Tuesday the 24th at 6 a.m. and was home on Wednesday evening the 25th. Thanks to all at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia SC and Dr. Antonelli and staff at Riverside Surgical. What a fantastic team of players.

I feel great and have very little pain. Only real twinge is the larger of the 6 incisions but that is to be expected.

My Forum Name co-insides with a song by Collective Soul that basically says it all if you read and or listen to the lyrics. It's called "Better Now".

Oh I'm newly calibrated

All shiny and clean

I'm your recent adaptation

Time to redefine me

Let the word out I've got to get out

Oh I'm feeling better now

Break the news out I've got to get out

Oh I'm feeling better now

Oh I'm happy as Christmas

All wrapped to be seen

I'm your recent acquisition

Time to Celebrate me

Let the word out I've got to get out

Oh I'm feeling better now

Break the news out I've got to get out

Oh I'm feeling better now

The world's done shaking

The world's done shaking

The world's done shaking me down

The world's done shaking

The world's done shaking

The world's done shaking me down

That's about it for now, I'll chime in from time to time. I've found this site very useful and informative over the last month of peeking in.

I was thinking (in reference to myself) that I would sing the last lyrics as 'the floor's done shaking, the floor's done shaking"

Welcome, Chuck, to the first few days of the rest of your life!

You are going to love your sleeve. Take good care of yourself and follow doctor's orders with regard to Water and Protein intake.

I had my surgery 11 months ago (7/13/2010) and I am down 120 pounds.

It is, without question, one of the very best decisions I've ever made.

Good luck to you as you travel this amazing journey!

Brian

Welcome Chuck,

Good to see everything is going great for you. This is a step that you will not regret taking. There will be low spots but hang in there. It's not just about the weight you will lose, it is the energy to do things now, fewer or no meds, self-confidence and knowing you will be healthier and more active to do the things you want to do. The folks here are great and helpful and will answer any question you might have. Very good support group.

Vance

Hi Chuck and welcome!! Congrats on being sleeved! I was just a little ahead of you on the 16th, and I am excited to be living the sleeved life as well. I love the song, music is a big part of my life. It's my favorite therapy. I look forward to sharing in this journey with you.

Hmmmm......First Post-op Dr. appointment today. Got my staples out and given the ok to hit the gym, drive and go to stage 2 of the post-op diet.

Feel great. Never cracked open any of my pain med prescription, never got belly sick (either end), slept on my stomach 2 days out of the hospital. I do believe 90% of this is all in the head and how hard you apply.

Oh yeah.....17 lbs lost with pre-op shake diet w/ 1 regular meal and Snacks and 1 full week post-op for a total of....................38lbs.

Stick to it and get help if you need it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
