My semi-triumphant return to the forums!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been around on the forums for quite a while now... No reason other than I haven't had much time for forum browsing, and my recovery was so good I haven't had any issues to ask you guys about!

I am now 8 months out, and doing pretty well. I've lost the majority of the weight I wanted to lose, with very little discomfort or problems.

However, recently I feel that I have "let myself go" a bit. I have about 10lb left to my goal weight, and I haven't lost any weight for at least a couple of months now. My surgeon said that he would expect me to lose a bit more yet, but it just isn't happening.

I know that if I up the exercise levels and cut out the Snacks (I have started to get into bad habits recently), then it will start coming off again and I will be able to reach goal without too much difficulty.

I just need to do it! And this is the best place to talk to people with the same issues who can support me and kick my butt into line!

Looking forward to getting to know you all again :)

Welcome back and congrats on being so close to goal!

I have struggled mostly with lots of stalls. I will lose a few pounds and then be stuck for 3 or more weeks. Then lose another lb or two and be stuck again. So it feels frustratingly slow, but I am thrilled to not be gaining. I just this week started back measuring and logging my food as I had done it sporadically in Mar./Apri/May and I think it is helping me be accountable.

It doesn't sound like you have fallen off the wagon, just need to refocus and make your weight loss a priority again. YOU CAN DO IT!

Hi M2G! Thanks for the reply

Maybe measuring would be a good idea. I do still get people saying that they think I am losing, even though I'm not... so perhaps it is muscle weight since I took up PIlates. I can always hope!

LOL

:D

It doesn't really sound to me like you're fallen off the wagon, just maybe letting your focus go other places. Why don't you join our weight loss challenge... maybe that will help with the motivation and get your focus back to that last pesky 10 lbs! You can do it!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
