kids05 4 Posted May 24, 2011 Ok, so most of you saw (and replied..thank you!!!) to my RANT last week. This has been a difficult 6 weeks. Fridays endoscopy went well, doc says healing great, looks good, no stricture, not narrowed and he didn't have to stretch anything. Hmmm..its a lot easier to eat since, coincidence? I guess...mental thing on my part, maybe??? Remembering to take my omeprazole...quite possibly. So...what do i do with my new found eating ease???? Lazy dinner night at my house! Have I previously mentioned I have 5 teenagers (ages 14-21) a big kid for a fiance...3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 hamsters, 3 degus....(this is the excuses portion of my topic....lol) work full time as a nurse (always working late) am planning a wedding....sigh, my fingers are tired typing this...huff n puff! Ok, so dinner. Sunday was steak, rice, veggies, oriental cole slaw salad for everyone, me 3 shrimp like 5 little bay scallops and probably 3 mushroom slices. Monday was grilled chicken with tastefully simple's garlic garlic (yummmmm) rice again (leftovers) corn, and Pasta roni, me 4 shrimp, a few bay scallops and a piece of broccoli. Tonight I was TIRED! Hotdogs and french fries....me, half a hotdog and like 7 seasoned fries! I FEEL LIKE CRAP! Tried to get sick...nothing will come up and now I have had HICCUPS for almost an hour!!!! They won't stop...I can't hold my breath without hiccuping...LORD knows I can't chug Water and even the old great gramma trick, a spoonful of white sugar, NO WAY, that would be worse! How do I get rid of persistant going for an hour hiccups???? Is this my punishment for crappy choices tonight!?? HELP???
Roseib 13 Posted May 25, 2011 Sounds like what happens when one eats too much. I did that once and felt like I would faint. No vomiting. Just stayed there for two or three hours. No hiccups but felt AWFUL. Water didn't help. Have been careful since. I think a lot of us do that - once.
apple-saucy 17 Posted May 25, 2011 First Take a DEEEEEP Breath You ate half a hot dog and the equivilant of 1/2 of a potato for dinner. That is NOT bad. Was it the best choice no....but it's not the end of the world. As for the hiccups. Sounds like the trying to make yourself sick (don't do that again ok? it just makes things more uncomfortable) may have put a hitch in your digestion. Try taking a couple of sips of Water and deep controlled breathing. Go for a walk and RELAX. Everyone is going to screw up sometimes. It's not worth the flip out HONEST. tntransplant06 20 Posted May 25, 2011 You wanted to be thinner. You got the sleeve. Now you complain you can't eat a lot of food. Hmmmm....step back and look at what you just typed and are thinking. Did you think nothing would change? Try to make a positive out of this...you are losing weight...isn't this why you did this surgery? Don't look at what you aren't gettting but what you ARE GETTING! HEALTHY!!
swizzly 901 Posted May 25, 2011 Those hiccups are a bitch. I get them also when I'm too full or drink too fast. They SUCK. I do very controlled deep breathing from my diaphragm (and also hold my breath in between) to try and get rid of them. Eventually it works. Potatoes have a way of growing bigger after I eat them, I have to be careful with them in any form. But I have had pieces of hot-dog-like sausages without a problem. kids05 4 Posted May 25, 2011 Transplant...what did I do was my unfortunate food choice, not surgery...lol!
Disney 20 Posted May 25, 2011 Man, I get those hiccups, too. It sucks, but it happens to me a lot. Fortunately they only last a few minutes for me. I don't see anything wrong with what you ate. Maybe you just ate a little too fast. Or did you drink any while eating? Sometimes even a little sip gets me going. I'm with Swizzly, potatoes are NOT my friend yet. They fill me up SO super fast. Hope you are feeling better today!
To Be Thin 2011 80 Posted May 25, 2011 Hi! A friend of mine that also is a sleever told me to get Gax X strips they disolve under your tongue. I have had to use them 3 or 4 times now to help with discomfort of my tummy and the darn hiccups... and typically I get then from eating to fast... old habits are so hard to break I still sometimes forget and eat too fast! Good luck ...
