Oooo love this forum! I have really been overwhelmed. It so nice to see people who have go through the WLS surgery and are so sucessful. I have lots of question and was hoping to get some answers.

~Anyone gone to Dr Ortiz? That is who I decided to go with. Scheduled for Gastric Sleeve Plication June 30th.

~Any Cysters? I have been suffering from PCOS and wanted to know if GSP helps relieve symptoms of PCOS. Alot of my wieght came from the metabolical issues from PCOS. Also do you lose weight slower?

~Love Affair with food? I am really beginning to see while I prepare myself for surgery and watching my eating habits I have a hard addiction to food. I use it to cope. Had a stressful week and turned to food to cope. I have done it for years but knowing now I am going through surgery I have noticed how bad it is. I have been in denial. I think this is about maybe 25% weight issue and 75% mind. How are ya all overcoming this part of it?

~States to Mexico. Any issues crossing the border? My passport has my previous name on it now I am married. I have been told just bring my marriage liscense but it makes me nervous

~Shame? I have found not everyone is so supportive of WLS. They think I am taking the easy way out. So far it hasn't been easy. It hasn't been an easy choice to make. I am excited but it has taken years to get to this point. Two other failed attempts at WLS. It's not something I have taken lightly and have definately tried everything else. Has anyone struggled with lack of support? Do you feel shame about doing it? Right now not many know I am schedule for surgery. My close circle of freinds and family know. Some supportive a few are not.

I guess I will start there. I am anxious, excited, scared and happy all in one. I am looking for support while on this journey. Hoping to find it here!

Blessings to all!:D

Welcome insideout:

Good for you and making a hard choice to take control of your life and move to a healthy happier place.

There will always be people that think this or that, but really who freakin cares!? They don't gave to live in your skin! Ignore their ignorance and enjoy becoming a healthier version of you!

I so get the food thing. When I was preparing for mine (may 10th in Mexico as well) I began to notice how much I turned to food, it really was eye opening. Since surgery (and the one week preop diet) I am down 36 lbs!!! 3 pant sizes and a shirt size! Best thing I have ever some for myself! It is not an easy road, but heck I wish it was, and if it were or even is sometimes, thank God there is enough hard things in life to face!

Stay focused, look forward to the thin you finally being seen!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
