Do you have the details? A peer had to do 3 weeks but it was different from my 560 calorie a day liquid. She was allowed 1 lean cuisine per day along with 1 piece of raw fruit. (A few restrictions.) So her's were not that bad.

If it'sall liquid, it won't be easy. But believe it or not, it was boredom that go to me the most. After the 2nd or 3rd day, I wasn't that terribly hungry but there were some variety packets I could have gotten that I didn't because it's an hour's drive. So I toughed it out and ate the same stuff over and over.

If you are being given the stuff and are allowed to take any mix based on what you like, I hope you can take some back if you don't like them. That made it rough. It's bad enough not liking the stuff but it's worse when there's one you would like and just don't have access to that one.

But the fact remains, you can do it. Just ask questions and baby yourself a bit. But them on the spot to get what you want. You're number 1 right now!

Hey there! My doc's office requires me to use Bariatric Advantage also, I got a couple sample packs from their website and really like using the vanilla and chocolate, but detest the strawberry & bannana. On their own they seem to be really thick and make me gag so I just spruce them up a bit to make them more palatable. So far I really like the chocolate w/ 8oz skim milk, 8 ounces cold decaff coffee, and 1/8 tsp peppermint extract... kinda like a junior mint flavor... and the vanilla w/ 8oz skim milk, 8 ounces of leftover decaff coffee from the morning, and Torrani sugar free caramel syrup... yummy (with crushed ice of course! All in a blender bottle!)

My surgery isn't until 7/5, but I've been trying to see which flavors I actually do like so that I'm not wasting my $ on something that makes me gag! Good luck w/ pre-op and beyond!!!

Wendy

Day 1-4 were the most difficult. It took me that long to discover that I don't like cold Protein Drinks. Today, which is day 6 wasn't that bad. I decided to just chugg it down and get them in early to prevent the evening munchies. Surgery on Thursday and I meet with the NUT and Dr on tomorrow for preop. Only lost 5 lb on 1 week preop. but now that I think about it that not too bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
