cleaning out the closet!!!

Recommended Posts

it will be goodbye forever to those big old sweaters and jeans, we won't miss them!!!

Way cool! I haven't had surgery yet either, but as cool weather ended this year I started to get excited about kissing those big 'ol sweaters & jeans goodbye forever! I'll probably be donating a bunch of stuff in the next few weeks.

Congrats to you! What a great NSV even before surgery! I love getting rid of old, big clothes- it feels so rewarding. Although sometimes I have a hard time with some of my favorites and I just have to think of all the new favorites that I will be able to buy- and how much cuter they will be! :D Good luck to you as you continue on with this journey!

There is much joy at my house when cleaning out closets, which I seem to be needing to do about every 3 weeks! Yardsale coming up and I have a full rack of nice clothes. I was in retail for 20 years so I have loads waiting for me to fit into them. THIS IS A BLAST! Congrats to you! think what it will be like after surgery! OH MY!!!

i haven't had surgery yet but i had lost 20 from the preop period. i went from a 20 to 16W/18. Since i'm having my surgery in less than 3 weeks there is nowhere my size will go but down!! it felt sooo good cleaning out my closet.. good bye to the 20's then the 18 then the 16, etc.. gotta make room for my new skinny clothes i'm going to buy :D can't wait!!

i totally understand about the favorite outfits but then i realize how many cute clothes i couldn't buy cause they didn't have my size. funny thing is i had given my mom my clothes from when i was smaller a few months ago (forgetting the weight loss process i'm about to embark) can i ask for those back? lol i loved those outfits. oh well i guess i just have to shop for new ones!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
