Kristy 90 Posted May 23, 2011 Hi everyone! I am 20 days post op and looks like I may have a small infection in my single incision (belly button). I went for my postop on Thursday and he told me the one thing they fear is infection in the incision at this point. Well this weekend I ended up with alittle green drainage from the incision and today I woke up with pain around the incision, So I called them and they believe its the start of an infection, so I'm glad I called right away!! Other then this little problem, everything else is great, I'm, loving meshy foods and I even went out to dinner this weekend for my birthday and had shrimp cocktail and mash potatoes...No cake.. but hey it's all worth it!!! BajaMedGroup 6 Posted May 23, 2011 This is definitely an infection. Make sure you are washing the wound with soap and Water. You will probably go on another round of antibiotics. A few questions: If you pinch the area is there a large amount of drainage? Does it smell bad? Have you had a fever? Did ALL your stitches come out 8-10 days post-op? Beadingnurse 116 Posted May 23, 2011 Kristy, I am so glad you caught the infection early and got it treated! Happy belated birthday...isn't the sleeve a great birthday present?
Kristy 90 Posted May 25, 2011 It turns out that I didn't have an infection in my incision, my surgeon says it looks great ( I thought the incision itself looked good too, was just concerned with the pain around the incision and the light green drainage)..but however he wasn't okay with the fact that I had the pain in my stomach and was feeling yucky, so he had a catscan and blood work ordered right away. It all came back good and the blood work showed no infection. He seems to think that I may have be alittle dehydrated, so I rested today and made sure to get more Protein in and I feel much better. As to the question of Jorge, I haven't had any fever and my incision is through my belly button so all my stitches are inside. The drainage has no smell to it, I laughed when my surgeon smelled it on thursday at my postop, but now I know why he did it.
