Hi Eddie! Welcome!!!

I'm not a revision but I'm several months out and I have lost 63 pounds. I believe the sleeve is by far the best decision I have ever made. I Hope your revision journey is a smooth one. Keep us posted. :) Deb

LOL! While my mother would have loved the quote, Edina is actually Patsy's BFF from Absolutely Fabulous and it's her mother replying. Gotta love Ab Fab!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I have found my home on the forum! :D Floridians ROCK!!

Hello Floridians!

Another one from Jacksonville here! I am starting the process and estimate my surgery will be in November or December. I am leaning towards Dr. Marema in St. Augustine.

Gatorman what was your experience like with Dr. Deperi & Eddie what is Dr. Webb like? (We are lucky to have these 3 surgeons of excellence in our area.)

Best wishes to all!

Dr. Webb is awesome! He's not your typical doctor. He's just a good old boy from Kentucky that drove the same old Ford Ranger pickup for years until his kids finally convinced him it was time for a new truck a few years back (he did my Lap Band surgery four years ago so I've known him for quite a while). As a surgeon, I can't imagine any better. This will be the second time I've trusted him with my life. I don't know anything about Dr, Marema, but I can tell you that I had a very bad experience at Flagler Hospital last year. If you want to know details, feel free to send me a private message and I'll fill you in.

Welcome Eddie! I am sure you will end up being successful and thinking the sleeve is the best thing you've ever done, I know I do! Dr. Webb did my follow up in the hospital and he was great.

Longer-Life, I love Dr. Depari and Dr. Webb. I obviously know Dr. Depari better since he did my surgery and followups but they are both great. Having the sleeve has certainly changed my life.

Yesterday, I saw my primary care Dr for the first time since the surgery. He was shocked at how much weight I've lost as well as the fact that my BP dropped as much as it has.:)

Thanks for the welcome Gatorman! I see you're down 93 pounds - very impressive! When were you sleeved? Did you have yours done at St Lukes? I had my band done at Memorial, as well as having worked there several years ago so the St Lukes thing is going to be completely new to me. I have no idea what to expect. So I'll gladly take any insight you'd be willing to share, both for the hospital and what to expect post-op. Thanks!

I was sleeved on April 14th at St. Luke's. They were great a St. Luke's and I didn't have any problem there at all. Post-op expect to be on a pain pump for a while. Get up walking as soon as you can, and enjoy the pump! LOL. I quit using pain medication all together when they took me off the pump. I really didn't have many problems post-op but I did get a little down about day 2 or 3 wondering if I did the right thing. That quickly passed though as I started to eat more. Getting used to changing the way you eat was hard for me and I got sick a lot they first couple of weeks, but since you had a band you will probably do better at recognizing the signs quicker than I did. By two months out I feel I had everything down pat and know the signs of when enough is enough. I've pretty much quit carbs all together (every once and a while I might have a bite of bread) and focus on eating my Proteins.

Truly this is the best thing I've ever done and I suggest it to anyone who has ever struggled with obesity!

Wow, thank you, gatorman for posting. How long did you have to stay in the hospital after surgery?

Wishes, I was in the hospital for probably 26 hours total and if they would have let me go earlier I would have. Truly within an hour of going off the pain pump I was just itching to go home and get in my own bed and see my kids. I had surgery on Friday and by Sunday night I had good energy and was ready to go back to work on Monday, although I didn't make it back to work until Tuesday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
