Sleeved May 16th, just got home a few hours ago, I'm doing great and will write a nice long post about my whole experience in the morning after I have a stack of pancakes and a whole pot of coffee (just wishing...)

Anyhow, I did a search and apparently a lot of people have had the itchiness around their incisions, seems like a bad reaction to the tape or glue or something. My question is at what point can I let them just be free without being covered? I think that would help the whole itchiness a lot, but also do not want to get anything in them. None of them are weeping or bleeding or anything, it is mainly around the incisions were the tape has been or bandages (I can see the outlines). I am also afraid to put any type of lotion on because I don't want to get it into any incisions. I guess I don't know how 'waterproof' they are. I know we can take showers but no baths because that would be soaking them and probably softening up the scabs and exposing them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I see my own doctor next week and can always have her look them over, but in the meantime, I am curious about what I can do to aid the healing.

I had really irchie incision too and it was a reaction to the dressing I went back on day 5 and they just took them all off! I still have a few blisters from the glue but they stoped itching almost as soon as I took them off!

I have also been taking baths since day 4 and mine are all healing lovely I'm now day 9!

Hope you get some relief soon!

It really helped for me to lightly rub some Neosporin cream around them. Not sure if it was the so called "pain relief" that Neosporin claims to have or what, but it sure helped.

I am allergic to adhesives so the steri strips sent me to the moon! I used hydrocortizone cream on them, rubbed it right into the strip and around it. The Doc removed the strips at day 7.

I have steril strips on mine and was told to leave them alone and not to put anything on them or try to take them off. i am to let them come off on their own, not to pull or try to rip them off.

tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my surgery and a couple of them look like they are starting to come loose on the edges, but they do not itch any.

i wish they would come off tho, so i can start putting scar treatment on them.

I used hydrocortisone around mine. I had to let the stuff just fall off on it's own and it took weeks to do so I just applied the cream.

I dont' have steristrips, I think the actual incisions probably have glue over them, but the main itchiness is the adhesive tape where I am putting gauze/tape over them each day after I shower and clean them. I remove it every day and put new on, but I'd like to leave it off altogether.

my incisions were held together with dermabond. i had an allergic reaction to it. didn't realize it til i went to my one week post op appt. and doc saw it. she said i can start taking off the dermabond around the incision site. felt so relieved and much better. still itched for a few weeks after that. but nothing a little benadryl cream can't take care of.

definitely call your doctor thought about whether or not letting the incisions heal with/without the bandages.

Hey! We're sleeve sisters! My surgery was on 5/16 as well. I had steri-strips that came off several of the incisions. But I had abdominal bleeding on my second day post op (from one incision) I lost a lot of blood into my abdomen and ended up with VERY low blood pressure and red blood cell count. I had 3 units of blood given to me. I recovered pretty well but went home with major seeping from two incision sites. I had to replace my steri-strips and wear heavy dressings. The tape made my entire belly itch like crazy. I think I'll try the cortisone cream. I'm not itching over my little incision sites, just where the tape has been.

Feeling stronger every day. I walk for 10 minutes 3-4 times a day. But I also take 2-3 hour naps during the day. This is my only post but it helps so much to read how others are doing.

Good luck to all of us!

hugs!

Chloe

my incisions were itchy for weeks, part of healing, but annoying. As my steri-strips came off I just rubbed a bit of bacitracin on the areas to moisten them. It helped with the itching but didn't make them wet or oozy. I just wore a tank under my t-shirts to keep the residue from the cream off my shirt and to protect the incisions from jeans etc. Glad you are feeling good!

I didn't have any dressings or strips, but did walk around scratching my belly for a week or so...........and yep, put lotion on it for the intense times :)

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
