Meow=^..^= 1 Posted July 1, 2006 Tell your Doctor... I take Potassium every day twice a day for this... but I am not banded... Just high blood pressure meds, I dont get the cramps anymore.
paula 4 Posted July 1, 2006 Leg cramps are a form of torture! Like Meow said, it sounds like your potassium levels are wacky. You may need some blood work to find the problem... so call your MD!
*susan* 1,709 Posted July 1, 2006 I used to wake up all the time with them (called them "charlie horses"). Someone also told me that it was probably due to a low potassium level and that if I ate more banannas that would help. I thought that sounded pretty silly, but I started eating them everyday and have not had problems since. Of course, your's may definitely be a more serious case than mine and it wouldn't hurt to check with your doctor.
Northernsun 4 Posted July 1, 2006 Best advice - have blood work done first. And eat banannas! I had them bad when I was low carb and couldn't eat banannas so I started taking potassium everyday and started having irregular heart beats. had to wear a monitor for a few days and the dr said to stop the potassium. When I did the heart problems stopped and I started eatting almonds and the leg cramps gradually went away. Warning! Almonds are addicting!!!
lizzilo 0 Posted July 1, 2006 Another two causes of this can be magnesium and Calcium. Get your 'lytes (electrolytes) checked.
