pre-op endoscopy/EUS found something

Recommended Posts

2 weeks ago today I had my pre-op endoscopy and the Dr. found that I had a "submucosal lesion in the lower antrum of the stomach". Last Friday I had an EUS (an endoscopy with ultrasound) and FNA (needle biopsy). The nurse called yesterday and said I have a benign cyst on my pancreas. I'm not sure that it's just one....I didn't know to ask what kind of cyst (apparently there are several kinds)....I thought that benign/malignant was all I needed to worry about! I've since researched a bit and now want to talk to the Dr.....but he didn't return my call today which really irritated me, lol. I couldn't reach my WLS Dr. either, so now I don't know if I have a cyst(s) that is benign now but could turn malignant in the future (certain types can!) if this affects my WLS I was hoping to have in late June/early July, if I *should* think twice about having it now, etc. and I have to get through the weekend wondering! Very irritating.

I know I should be thankful that it's not cancer now, that the pre-op testing found something early that maybe could have just been growing in me for years before discovery (I had no real symptoms, nothing that warranted a visit to the dr....however I have had slight swelling on my right side and I have had some quick flashes of pain on rare occasions that now make sense....I had attributed it to a fatty liver or gallbladder issues after reading here! lol. so much for self-diagnosing wink.gif

I'm just venting since I have to go through the weekend with no answers. I guess I am curious also, has anyone else had cysts on their pancreas and had VSG? I will talk to both the WLS and gastro Dr. on Monday so I'll have answers soon....but it's going to be a long weekend.

the nurse said for now they will just "watch" my cyst(s), baring any issues that means yearly EUS's which was not as easy as the endoscopy. not looking forward to that!

Some people are born with cysts on whatever. My daughter has one on her kidney. So far, it's there and that's it. It's just there and probably has been there since birth. It was only found when she had a kidney infection ultrasound. It was also discovered that she has an small extra kidney! Leave it to me to have children with spare parts!!!

For the weekend, just try to remember to breath. That's all, just breath. You will get your answers on Monday. Don't let the "worms" get into your brain. Otherwise you will have yourself tortured and buried by Sunday.

Keep in touch. Vent here when you want. We're here and we're listening.
