My port is on the left hand side but it is right where my waistband is. I also have to get this one removed and get a low profile one put in. I hve reached my goal and it is sticking out too much. The low profile one is flat and hopefully he will move it down a bit too because it is irritating.

I didn't have a choice but my port is on the left side, under my ribcage. It doesn't give me any problems but I'm well aware that it's there. I imagine once I've lost more weight, it may protrude some. If it does, I'll deal with it at that time.

Not banded yet but... the surgeons at my hospital say they now do the ports on the sternum area which is right in the middle under the breasts. But not where the bra hits. My surgeon said to put a mark where I want it. LOL! I also asked about the low profile port, they aren't doing that at this time since they feel the original size is easier to access for a fill. ::): I was hoping for low profile, I can't imagine what it would be like to have the port replaced. yuck

Mines on the left side, not far to the left tho, and about 3 fingers down from my rib cage, and is a low profile. And yes the fill Dr. said they are much harder to hit...I felt like a pin cushion for a few minutes!!

I didn't get a choice. It was just there when I woke up. It's on my right side, about 3 inches above and to the right of my belly button. I asked the doc prior to surgery about waistband rubbing. He said "well, your waist is going to be lower that it is now." :) I guess waists are just above the hipbone. I think I remember that. :heh:

My port is on my left side and its just fine there. No choice given to me on which side to place my port. It was never discused and I figured the dr might know the best place for it better than me.. so my trust was in his hands!! I can feel it more now that I've lost alot of weight but it never bothers me.

Left side, under the ribcage. I've only hurt it once - that was last night. I was trying to show the kids things I could do when I was young - remember that move where you lie on your stomach, push up on your arms, bend your head back and your feet up and touch them to the back of your head? I think its acutally a yoga move. Anyway OUCH!

I could also do the splits and jump to standing from kneeling without using my hands. Oh to be 8 again!

On the left, about 1 inch below my bellybutton - right along my waistband line. A little lower or a few inches higher would have been better.

Where the port and port wound would be located is one of the FEW things I didn't think to ask about! Makes me wonder what ELSE I didn't think to ask. Hmmmmmm.

Mine's to the left of my belly button, probably only about 3 fingers lower than my rib cage. On my first visit to the surgeon, he examined my abdomen trying to determine the best place for it. His only comment was that this place may interfere with my wasteband of my pants. I told him that the only reason I wear my pants that high is that "fat lady pants" seem to ride high like that. He laughed and when I woke from surgery, that's where it was. If I wear exercise pants with an elastic wasteband that are a little snug, I can feel it. Otherwise, I barely notice it's there.

Once, when I got a little "active" in bed I pulled something around there and was sore for a few days. I was convinced I'd flipped it, but I've had a fill since then so it must be O.K. :)

Mine is just under my rib cage on my left side. It has actually moved a few cm to the left of the scare which i thought was kind of weird, and it feels like (i don't know if it really, is but it feels like) its pushing on my ribs some times. I told the doctor but he didn't seem concerned, I'm having my first fill on Wednesday and hes going to do it under flouroscopy so we can see where everything is.

mine is on my right side. I can feel it. when Im doing dishes at the sink I keep hitting it. I also have a larger 4 inch scar where my port is. I dont mind the scar but doc said its called the hand port incision and thats where my port is sewn into the muscle.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
