Hi - new girl here.

I am so excited to start this new road - I have had my initial consult (which included labs, psych eval, dietician and trainer meeting) and am now just waiting for everything to get to my insurance for approval. This has been a longer road then expected as I have already had to complete a 6 month diet program with my doctor before I could even start the process with my surgeon. I guess in a way this was a good thing. I have had time to research and be sure this is what I want.

I haven't always been a big girl. I was never a skinny minnie but never overweight, or obese. I have been married for 7 1/2 years and in that time, I have gained over 80 lbs. My hubby and I LOVE to eat and LOVE to cook.... it has been the common ground for us. I am scared that with surgery, we will lose a connection. Has anyone else worried about something like this??

Thanks so much and I am so glad I found this place!

Hi New Girl,

You are not alone. I feel the same way.

I haven't had the surgery yet, but I hope someone with more experience can give us some advice.

I wish you the best of luck.

First congratulations on your journey!! Sounds like you are on your way to getting sleeved. My hubby and I were both worried about how the surgery would affect our social life as we eat out a LOT and use that time to catch up on our day. Our kids are grown so we don't have to cook for a family. What we have found is that we still eat out but I have become a cheap date! I only order Water and don't drink that. I get either an appetizer and still take most of that home or get a brothy Soup. We went out to eat I think on day 4 or 5 after my surgery and I had miso Soup and hot tea. Perfect!

There are websites that have great bariatric recipes and you and hubby will cook together but maybe add some new recipes! Check out the website..."the world according to Eggface". I have even made a number of her recipes and I don't cook much! Good luck! :D
