nacnic 0 Posted May 20, 2011 Is it necessary to lose weight befor surgary? My doctor didn't tell me anything about that. I'm 95kg and 163 cm. I prefer to lose some weight befor surgery. I have decided to lose some but I can't control emotional eating. How and how much should I lose? Any advise?
SquirrelyGirl 0 Posted May 20, 2011 My doctor requires a 10 liquid diet.. to shrink your liver but nothing about having to lose weight before the surgery -- i guess cuz if it were easy to lose weight before surgery you would already
Heatherr 149 Posted May 23, 2011 I'm not sure I agree. I'd be willing to guess that many of us are expert dieters that yoyo often. I'm trying everything I can to lose weight before surgery and exercising as often as I can. I'm hoping the exercise will help me post op with mobility and healing. Plus, it's become somewhat of a habi,t now that I hope carries over easily that way I won't have the extra lifestyle change to suddenly add on top of my new eating habits. Also, the more I lose now and less I weigh on DOS, the more quickly I can get to goal or at least a reasonable weight. It cannot happen fast enough as far as I'm concerned. My dr doesn't require it, I just want to be the healthiest I can be before I go under.
