Hey all My wife and I were sleeved on May11 everything is going well so far, but I do have one question, I don't get hungry AT ALL, but when I do go a long time without eating I start to get bad gas pains, is this my new indicator for hunger? Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Congrats on your surgeries! I'm 5 weeks post up, I think week to week it is different for everyone. I had gas pain to nausea within my first couple of weeks.

I'm almost 3 1/2 weeks and when I wake up in the morning I get this "empty" feeling in my stomach and drink a shake. I equate that to what hunger is now because I do NOT get hungry either. Today was a super busy day at work and thank goodness I had my greek yogurts with me because the shake, two greek yogurts and Water is all I had so far today and nada. lol Tonight I am making Shelly's Ricotta Bake from The World According to Eggface. Cant wait!!!

I don't get hungry anymore either, but I don't get gas pains--I don't seem to have much gas anymore, whereas before surgery it was kind of embarassing. Anyway, I get cranky, headachy, or an empty, sort of hollow feeling when I am hungry. Early out my stomach would rumble when it was empty.

Thank you for all the replies, It is sort of a rumbling bumbling feeling, its weird, but I know it's time to eat when it happens.

Isn't it fascinating figuring out the new language of our thumbys? I too get that sort of rumbly pangy feeling and know to have something. The usual hunger thing is just gone.

Since our stomachs were just slice open and mostly removed, I figure our bodies have to heal , become whole, and create a new language. We have to be patient and just take good care of the new thumbys as they form.

I actually feel really fortunate that hunger is gone because I know some people still feel it early on and that would be miserable!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
