300PoundsDown 101 Posted May 19, 2011 I will be having my surgery with Dr. Cavazos in San Antonio, TX on June 28th. As of right now, I have no official pre-op diet except for right before surgery. Does this seem right?
StacyS 20 Posted May 19, 2011 A lot of doctors are different. I've seen people on here who have had to do a 14day pre-op diet and others not required to do anything at all. My surgeon only required a 3 day diet and thank god it was only 3 days!! I dont know how people could a whole 14 days only on clear liquids! I lost a lot of energy with only 3 days, can you imagine 14?? No thanks!! Be thankful you dont require one! Have as many of your "Last Suppers" as you can before surgery!!! M2G 1,836 Posted May 19, 2011 I didn't have a pre-op diet. Just clears 24 hours before surgery. It was totally fine no liver-shrinking stuff, etc. Now of course I wished I had done a pre-op diet just because I would be THAT much farther along in the game. But since it wasn't required I didn't bother. I had enough of liquids post-op, lol.
300PoundsDown 101 Posted May 19, 2011 This makes me feel better b/c I was beginning to wonder!
Rootman 1,101 Posted May 19, 2011 No better time to start then the present! At least a few days of a liquid diet will clear your bowels and lessen the effects of anesthetic induced Constipation. It will also give you a jump start on the weight loss too. It certainly can't hurt.
