Syntrax Nectar Twisted Cherry

Recommended Posts

I'm not on the liquid diet yet, but after reading the posts on here, I thought I would order some of the samples to see what I would like. I realize that my tastes may change after surgery, but this will give me an idea at least. So, I figured I would try one a day or so until I go on the liquid diet (I ordered a lot of samples) when I know I'll have to up it.

Today, I had the Syntrax Nectar Twisted cherry. I mixed the 26g pouch in with about 12 ounces of Water. First sips aren't too bad. No real bad odor and while there is a bit of an aftertaste, it's not totally disgusting. I actually like it.

What kind of surprised me though was on this packet (which I got from Nashua Nutrition who said the whole packet was one serving), it said there were 4 servings in the packet! But, looking at the actual nutritional values, it indicates that there is 6 g Protein per serving - which taking the whole packet would equate to 24 g (and what I thought I was for a single serving). Is this typical - where the package labeling indicates smaller serving sizes than we are supposed to have?

I use these! I also bought the sample packets and fell in love with the Cappuccino flavor! I put 2 scoops (48g protein) in 20oz of Water and ice and drink that all morning! I love it! When this one's gone I'm probably buy the Twisted cherry flavor. I liked that one the best, as well as the Fuzzy Navel. But actually, I liked them all except for the Tea one. I dont really care for Iced Tea.

That is just how nectar labels and what they consider a "serving." Always good to check serving size - they do vary!

Thanks. I've been checking nutrition labels long before it became "fashionable" to do so. That one just surprised me a bit.

I'm not a fan of coffee or tea - so I didn't order those sample flavors. I typically love fruit juices though, so I was glad to see that variety and ordered practically every "juice" flavor there was to sample. ;)

I just got my nectar sample pack from www.mybariatricpantry.com yesterday, and tried the fuzzy navel for the first time.... OMG I am in love. I have been struggling to find a juice type Protein drink that isn't chocolate/vanilla/straw shakey, and this looks like the winner. I am going on 2 weeks post op and have had a LOT of trouble getting my Protein in. I just can't drink anything with the protein aftertaste. nectar has whey protein and at 24 grams of protein a serving (the trial packets at least, only have 100 calories, I don't think that's too bad). The only thing is, I mixed it in with about 20 grams of Water, since I'd never tried it before... It was a little TOO watered-down. I think with a little less Water it'd taste even better :)

Can't wait to try the cherry and the others! Thanks for your thoughts on the other flavors!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
