Home from the hospital and so happy to be SLEEVED!

Recommended Posts

Just thought I would post a quick update that all is good and am so glad to be home. I didn't get much rest at the hospital and am hoping to sleep (and walk and sip!) lots today and this weekend. I am having trouble, though, just getting the one ounce of liquid in at all. There sure doesn't feel like there is any room for this stuff to go. It feels very tight and restrictive. I guess that is a good thing, but it is hard getting the required liquids so I don't get dehydrated.

Anyways...so glad to be on the loser's bench!! Looking forward to this journey and keeping my eye on the prize and to be a better steward of the body God has blessed me with. It is all going to be in my attitude. If I choose to concentrate on what I can't have and how the foods/drinks I can have don't measure up then I will be miserable and will hyper-focus on reaching the stage where I can "eat again". This journey it all about learning to deny my overwhelming need to gain instant gratification through food. It is going to be difficult physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, but in the end if I do it God's way, I will never regret it :).

Welcome to the Other side! I was only sleeved a week ago and in that time I feel so totally different. Don't worry about the liquids they do get as lot easier. I find the mornings more difficult and I think it's just where my tummy swells during the night because after being up and active for about an hour it is so much easier to get stuff in!

Good luck on your journey and keep us posted!

Congratulations! I had a very hard time getting all my fluids in the first two weeks--and don't even ask me about Proteins. It will get easier as you heal.

Don't worry! That inability to get an ounce in is temporary. I am at ten days but I remember crying in the shower thinking I would never be able to drink enough or get my Protein in.

One thing that has helped me is to set my phone alarm every fifteen minutes and work to get 2 ounces in slowly. ow I can just take a 32 ounce Water bottle and know I will drink it all but those first few days I really had to work hard and keep track.

Day five was the day it turned around and suddenly became easier to drink.

Find Protein that works too, but don't push yourself or feel bad if that does not happen immediately! You just had major surgery and everything is swollen.

Once you do get all your protein in you can be assured your body will turn to the fat to burn- and that is what we all want!

COngratulations on starting this wonderful journey!

@ exoticheart: I really love Dr. Suh and his whole staff. My experience has been wonderful. The hospital stay was...well, a hospital stay. The nurses and surrounding had nothing to do with Dr. Suh. They weren't bad, but I guess I was grumpy and irritable, so even the best nurses would have irritated me :). Can't wait to hear about your consult and the next few weeks! My husband just had his consult with Dr. Suh and hopes to be sleeved this summer, too. I am glad I went first so I can help him and be his helpmate! Good luck to you!

:) Congrats on your new tummy!!

You will be able to drink in no time!! Hours after my surgery, they brought me ice chips and I could only do a few and felt such restriction. I am now 11 days out and drink with no problems. Liquids go down very smoothly for me and feel fine in my tummy!

You will do great!

Best of luck to you!!

Kelly

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
