SPI Tortuga 1 Posted May 20, 2011 Thanks all!! Now I'm home and trying to adjust to the pain! Woke up just a while ago to take pain meds. I normally avoid pain meds to be strong, but I have a feeling I shouldn't on this one. They are kicking in and I'm so glad. 36 or so hous out! Am I being a baby? lsereno 2,525 Posted May 20, 2011 No way are you being a baby! Every day makes a big difference. You will probably see others posting soon who have had their surgery the same day as you. I'm just one day ahead of you. There are two or three other members who had surgery the same day as me, but I think I was the first to send a message post-op. One thing about pain: it's better to stay ahead of the curve. If you let it get bad before taking the meds it is harder to get under control. From what I can tell, most people only need the pain meds the first few days. I took a full dose this morning (3:30 a.m.), but plan to try a 1/2 dose this morning or afternoon and see how it gos. Congrats on a successful surgery and welcome to the losers bench! Lynda
Margaret 4 Posted May 20, 2011 The fact that you've posted anything is good news! IT's over! Take pain meds. I love them and didn't need them! So, my bottle sits on the shelf. If you just follow the rules and do not sway from them, it will ALL FALL INTO PLACE. Get some sunshine when you can and just sip and stroll and sip and stroll. Sounds like a decent recovery to me! Nancy Rivers 24 Posted May 20, 2011 Glad to hear things went well. No, I don't think you're being a baby for taking the paid meds - that's why they give them to you! Thanks for giving an update.
Beadingnurse 116 Posted May 20, 2011 My motto is better living through chemistry! Take the pain meds for as long as you need them!! Congratulations on getting the surgery over with...you are on your way to a new life!
