The best meal I ever ate

Recommended Posts

I consider myself something of a gourmand and I love well prepared beautiful food. I have made food from all cuisines and was also the head baker in a european bakery renowned in this area.

But the cup of Trader Joes organic Tomato Soup thinned with a half a cup of milk I just had is probably the best eating experience I have ever had. After my last week....I savored every sip and experienced it in a way I can't remember ever doing. Each sip suffused my body with the most divine feelings. My senses were 100% alive!

And tomorrow- I finally get yogurt if I thin it to liquidy, I mixed a fruit at the bottom Greek yogurt thoroughly tonight and then strained the bits of fruit out. It is glistening in the fridge awaiting me. I think one new food now that I am allowed thin liquids is enough.

Meggie the TJ's cottage cheese and their greek yogurt are amazingly awesome too! Lynn is on her way to Vegas as we speak and as soon as she gets here (probably about 4 days drive) we're going to TJ's and shop. love love love Trader Joe's stuff.

Tomato, icky. Not sure if that's my cup of tea, but maybe. It just seems a shame to waste it by not dunking a grilled cheese sandwich into it lol

XOXO Renee`

and yeah...your face does look thinner! WOOT!

Tomato Soup (plain ol' Campbell's) got me through the first two weeks, with all the sweet liquids.. Nothing ever tasted so good... until I started plopping a spoonful of plain Greek yogurt into it, which made it pure bliss. :D Try it!

You know Meggie, I had the same type of experience yesterday too - my hubby warmed me up some cream of chicken with mushroom and it just was bland to me, so we had this cream of corn Soup that had some spiciness to it, so I had him add some of that soup to the cream of chicken soup - OMG it was liquid heaven, I had never tasted anything so good before -

I sure can tell that my tastes are changing, because what I liked last week, I am not as fond of this week -

Glad you had a music melody going on in your mouth yesterday! LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
