Starting Modified Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Recommended Posts

I bought from Wal-Mart Professional Strength whey Protein Plus Elite Series triple chocolate flavor.

Calories 160

total fat 2g

Total Carb 8g

Fiber .5g

Sugars 3g

Protein 26g

Says can be mixed with Water or skim milk. Granted the skim milk will add calories/fat etc. Has anyone tried this before? My doctor wants me to use shakes to supplement meals. I can have 300 calorie high protein meals twice a day. My goal is to loose 10lbs before surgery. I'm finally DONE with the food funeral. Its time to get serious. I just needed some time to prepare myself mentally for what I'm about to do.

My son is leaving for Europe June 1 for ten days. He is 17 and will require me to help him pack etc. I'm not sure if I should have the surgery before he leaves or wait until after. I feel like if I have it before I might not be of much help to him getting him ready to go. I dunno, I know its kind of a weird thing to post, but its one of the things the is a huge factor in deciding my surgery date. I'm lucky in the fact my 2 teenage daughters will be out of school this week and are more than willing to help me with aftercare and helping to take care of my younger children (ages 7 &3) while I recover. My husband is also a gem and is willing to do whatever needs to be done.

My gut/intuition tells me June 6. Guess I will see what my doctor says.

Leanne

Walmart protien is kindof a sub standard formula. (about 76% protien, the rest fillers) Does your Dr require protien shakes after surgery?? If so, I suggest going to a sports nutrition or Health food store and pick up some samples first. (your taste may change after surgery)

Isopure is a GREAT product, it is actually 97% pure protien. (worth the money) (sugar free, and comes in a few flavors)

to find out the ammount of protien actually in the product vs fillers find the grams of protien per serving (ie 26gr and divide it by the serving size (grams) 26 grams of protien in 34 grams of product is 76% protien.

Try to find something higher than 85 if you can.

Some are whey based, some soy, some egg white based.....shop around, get samples, and find something that is yummy.

Happy Shopping/Sampling!

Im sure you will find a happy medium of a surgery date with your family dynamics. Good luck!
