Carbs are my worst enemy. They really play havoc with my blood sugar. Once I get started with carbs it is difficult for me to stop. I try and avoid them at all costs.

I guess that "carb-addicts" are where I would fit in too.

I got in the VERY bad habit of eating a fast food Breakfast meal every day during the work week.

I would also go in spurts where I was addicted to one item (cookies or junk) and eat it constantly almost every day for a few weeks or so.

That was scary stuff to feel so out of control.

Sweets don't bother me at all. It is definitely the salty, crunchy things that I am addicted to. I make a dip that in incredibly easy and very yummy and very fattening (cream cheese, milk and garlic salt). I could sit down and eat that and a bag of chips without thinking twice about it. I tried some for the first time the other day since getting my first fill and pb'd on it. That is probably a good thing for me, lol.

Well I was always one that just liked to eat period!! I love baked chicken fried chicken salad it didn't matter I just like eating. I could go on a really strict diet but I always failed it after a little while. I think Icecream is my favorite and that is something I have to stay away from because it is still so easy to eat it after being banded.I to love potatoes and junk food.... I think I was and still am one that just eats to be eating... bordom or when I nervous... just over all an emotional eater. Its harder to do these days thank goodness but still a struggle!!!

Carb addict as well. But overall I ate healthy most of the time, however I've always been a "big girl", man how I hate those words, as in you're not fat, your just a BIG GIRL. I"m tall and well built and sporty, so many times in my life I've longed to be petite and cute.

As a child/teenager I wasnt overweight. I was at the high end of my normal range, but because I didnt fit in, I wasnt one of the pretty girls, I began dieting. This was my downfall I think, it set up a cycle where I would think "next week I'm going on a diet so I'm going to live it up until then" and it would send me into a pattern of eating that I normally wouldnt go for - lots of junk food etc. Then I'd diet for a while and then go on a post diet binge.

Nevetheless I got to my late 20's without ever being more than mildly overweight. I knew pregnancy was dangertime so I went into it aware and never gained much. But once I'd had 2 babies within 20 months of each other, my lifestyle did an about face and I suddenly stopped all the exercising etc, it became too logistically difficult. You can take a newborn out for an hour and a half long walk, but add a 20 month old and you've got 30kg of pram, children and a whinging bored toddler - I began to gain then. Then I went back to work and my eating habits just got worse, totally convenience based eating - fast food and quick Pasta meals and once budgetary constraints came into play too, we just started to live on cheaper junk foods. The habits stuck and in the last few years, I basically gave up and that's when I put on a lot and became obese. I also found that whilst I was breastfeeding, I gained at an alarming rate without seeming to eat more, it seemed to be hormonal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
