What was your fat behavior?

Recommended Posts

I was a total carbaholic. A few years ago, I just gave up. I ate basically nothing but junk food - pizza most every day, chips, Bagels. I would occasionally try to eat a little healthier, but I would never make the commitment. If I wasn't going to commit to eating healthier, I might as well not try to choke down chicken once a month, just eat the pizza. I was also a carb-binger. I would buy a half-dozen bagels and eat them all by the end of the day. I also was incredibly inactive. And the more I did these things, the fatter I got, and the fatter I got, the more I did them.

Carb addict here too, as well as cheese addict. My favorite: One whole baguette, block brie cheese and marinated artichoke hearts. Would eat all of that in one day. Also, brown rice, butter, chedder cheese. My husbands macaroni and cheese would also make me week in the knees. I would eat and eat until I was so stuffed I was sick, then take a nap.

My weakness is bread and carby food. I love good southern cooking: bisquits and gravy, BBQ and potato salad, etc... It got worse when we moved down here by the Tex/Mex border 5 years ago. A group of us go eat lunch out every single day. I ended up adding chips and salsa, tortillas, Beans, and rice daily to an already unhealthy diet and gained from 170 to 220 in about 4 years. "Dieted" my way up and down and back up to 230, lol.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh...what a carb fest we could have had!!! I was the queen of carbs. A loaf of hot french bread was all I needed for dinner. We used to choose our favorite restaurants according to the bread they served. How bad is that???

And then there was all that good southern home cooking....fried chicken, fried catfish, apricot fried pies, coconut cake with whipped cream frosting, peach cobbler and pecan pie (topped with Blue Bell ice cream).

My mother-in-law is 86 and loves chocolate. She fusses all the time about how she is going to weigh 300 pounds if she doesn't stop eating candy. The other day she said her clothes were getting tight, she knew she was putting on weight, etc. Her big announcement was, "I'm going to start eating a smaller bowl of Cereal in the morning." I think I had that same mentality pre-band. I figured I would just start having a salad for lunch and that would take care of the problem. About a thousand salads later, I was heavier than I had ever been.

Yeah I also remember the feeling of eating so much you would be sick to your stomach, and have to lie down. And it would last for hours, it seemed. I don't ever want to feel that again.

Carbs too. bread, Pasta, Cookies and candy. I actually do eat some healthy stuff also, I love baked or grilled fish, most veggies. But I eat WAY too much. Until I'm stuffed. I snack a lot. Or I did. I'm working on changing my habits now.

I used to hide Double Stuff Oreo Cookies. I used to hide them everywhere in case my husband or son found one package and ate them. I hid them in the dryer, in the stove, under the sink, behind the towels in the closet, I was an OREOHOLIC!!

Definately carbs for me too. I only ate 2 meals a day but they were very big ones. One of my favourites was to get a family size of fries from the local fish and chips store....pile all kinds of goo on top....gravy, ketchup, etc.....then I'd eat the entire thing...all in one sitting.

Now, I can't even imagine doing that again.....I can't even believe that I did this, and on a regular basis too.

I really could have written this exact same post about me. EXACTLY. Pizza most days, sometimes mexican food instead. I was so addicted to nachos. I'm so glad to be free of that!

OMG - carb heaven here!! I was a total pizza, tacos, chips, dip, JUNKIE!!! If I could have, I would have eaten pizza 7 days a week. I never did crave sweets but bring on the chips! Not to mention cokes and dr. pepper's! I would drink probably 3-5 soft drinks per day. I haven't had the first soft drink since I had surgery though....almost 5 months without a dr. pepper. That is the one thing my head demons still have me craving though. Thank God I know the carbonation is bad for the band or I would probably have given in by now!

salty carbs, savory carbs, and high fat ones! chips, cheese puffs, nachos, dip, rice with butter, potatoes with butter, Pasta, cheese and crackers, and Protein that's fatty too, bacon, sausages, steak without the fat trimmed. Biggest problem would be Portion Control too. I ate loads of healthy food as well, lots of seafood, fresh fish, fruits, veggies, salads, the problem was I'd be taking in a good 3000-4000 cals a day at times, and very little physical activity. I always got all my fruits and veggies and fibre.. but I always got a load of extra carbs, salt, and fat to boot, and too much of everything. Occasional sweet attacks as well, maybe a chocolate bar every other day, or an ice cream, but the biggest culprit, the savory or salty carb and fat combo foods - and shear volume!

candy bars were the devil!! I would buy a whole box at Sam's Club & hide them. I'd eat them one by one until they were gone. I used to down 3 at a time. I felt so sick & didn't care!!! My favorites were butterfinger, twix, Reese's & snickers. Looking at them now makes me sick!! I haven't had a candybar in a year!!!!

I also love mint oreos with a big glass of 2% milk. I still eat these every once in awhile, but only 2. I just count them into my calories for the day.

pizza, chips, cheese dip, bowl of rice, bowl of Pasta, bread of almost any kind, ice cream, FROSTING, french fries.

oh, and seconds please!

I really love my new eating life. It's not in control to a level that I am happy with yet, but it's a work in progress. I LOVE going out to dinner, feeling 'stuffed' (as stuffed as a bandster can comfortably be), and then looking at how much I have left, and comparing that to what I would have eaten preband.

I also love fried carbs!!! But my downfall is fast food.... Everyday, ick.....occassionlly I still want McDees, but not everyday!!! And what the heck is in the special sauce that jacks up the calories and fat content to high????? But not just Donalds, Wendys, Jack and the crack, Taco hell, and Burger sling...LOL I have designated regions of my body, ie fat, to favorite foods and/or resturants....I will say it again, Fast food is from Satans Minions!!!

But when not eating out I would eat a bag of chips (Salt and Vinager) with cottage cheese....that would be what I ate the whole day. Or cheetos with lime

Also another evil food.... Carne asada Nachos I would feel so ill after eating the entire box!!!

Then there is the many years of not having money to eat....gotta love being a student...so it was top ramen and tortillas....LOL once in the summer of 97 I had 3 tortillas a day for 2 weeks... I must say I am happy I am married so there is another income in the house...lol

Although he is another nightmare all together... I gained 30 pounds after I was married on Paposas, and tamales....LOL Lard, pure lard in the masa!!!! I need a artery vaccume, STAT

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
