omg.....

I seriously hope he posts soon!!! and yeah, totally nervous. I go down next monday and am already freaking out. Just goes to show no matter who the surgeon is, complications can happen. I feel confident in Dr. Aceves, just lack of faith in myself. I guess the good news is since he's from Vegas, if he wants to go down next week he can ride down with me to get checked out.

Seriously hope it was just red kool-ade or something and not fresh blood. That, to me (and I'm not a Dr, as hard as that is to believe) sounds a lot like the esophegeal blood that my brother was vomiting up....NOT from surgery, my bro was just a dipshit. Old blood I'm told looks like coffee grounds. Maybe BajaMedGroup can chime in here and tell us more? Please?

just wanted to let everyone know that im doing okay, i was diagnosed with gastritis, and was given some nausea medication,

i think the reason i developed that was becuase of a car accident 2 days ago that was pretty bad a drunk driver hit me at 65 mph and at the hospital the doctor had prescribed hydrocodone, and i ended up taking two .5 pills which after about 30 minutes made me so sick and sleepy,i thought nothing of it and just went to sleep, the following morning i woke up around 6 and decided to take my morning chug of Water and about 5 minutes later i started throwing up a very brite red color blood, and that was the end of the blood, but following that i couldnt keep anything down untill they gave me some nausea medicine and something similar to prilosec. i want to thank you all for your concerns i can tell you all at the hosptial its human nature for someone to tell themselves, "why in the hell did i do this operation?" when your going trough a bad time, but as a strong minded person i kept telling my self i did it for a more healthier me and that this bad expiereince would pass and all will be good, and it has! I've learned to stay away from strong pills, and be really carefull of things i havent tried with my new stomach.

Dr aceves to me is a A+ doctor and i have only good things to say about him and his team, i was the first person to go out of my family to have the procedure done and i can tell you i was so confident and calm trough out the procedure i didn't think twice on canceling, i would even go as far as say that Hosptial Almater is probably better in service and technology then some of these hospitals in the U.S

Definitely better than most of the ones here in Vegas I'm sure! Thank you so much for letting us know you're doing ok and what you found out. Hydrocodone....crap. I take that daily and probably will have to forever. Guess it'll be time for my Rheumatologist to come up with a better plan of attack when I get back.

Glad you're okay. I don't think it's that drug in particular, I'm sure most people would be fine, things just affect us all differently.

PS: If you ever have something severe wrong with you (lots of blood after surgery, chest pain, breathing problems), call 911 or whatever your local number is and don't take yourself. It's much safer going with EMS. Just a general warning, I don't know how much blood this person had!

Hydrocodone is known to be a bit hard on the tummy so I always take mine with food. Guess that will be out of the question for a while so I'll need to think of something else. In other words though, for you, TAKE IT WITH FOOD! lol I'm giggling because I've been on it for years and I know this, but someone brand new to it, or any narcotic pain med really, it's hard on the tummy and especially a new one.

I live in Vegas as well so if you need something, seriously, I'm here in town and it's not a huge deal to help someone else out!...just leave me a msg here ok?

XOXO Renee`

I'm glad to hear you're not dead, and also relieved for myself and probably hundreds of Dr. A patients who hang out here. But I hope in the next few days you contact the doc and tell him what happened. He might have some additional insights for you and,,,I dunno, if I were him I'd want to hear about it. You know, you might be the first person who ever crash tested the sleeve.

Good to know you're okay. Thanks for coming back with the story, I was sort of worried about this all day yesterday.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
