I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you MeMeMEEE!!!

I have just one (!!!!) MSWL visit left before submission - I emailed my insurance person for the program just trying to see when I can hope to get in once submitted and here is her response :

If all of the information is in place they will send through an approval, but to be honest Blue Cross hasn’t been very easy to work with in the last few months. They have been sending through denials for unfounded reasons, and we have had no problem overturning them, but it does take a little longer to get an approval when that happens. It would not be unheard of to get you on the surgery schedule in around 1 month’s time from the time that we submit you, but that depends on Blue Cross.

YAY!!! I am so excited and nervous!! Possibly will have surgery in less than 2 months!!

I should be submitted this week - today or tomorrow. Apparently the insurance cooridinator for my program has a bunch - thinking it must be from the change of 3 to 6 months. So anxious!!

Do not complain about the 6 month supervised diet with BCBS of IL. Do you realize they only started approving the sleeve in October of 2010. Ask me when I got my surgery? Sept. 2010. Yeah, I self paid for the sleeve. No regrets, but ouch on the pocketbook.

I knew it was pretty recently! I know one lady who wanted the sleeve and found out like a week before having lapband that her insurance started covering sleeve! How lucky for her!

BCBSIL can help you with your confusion and find you suitable coverage for whatever stage you are at in your life.An independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association serving the state of Illinois.bcbs of illinois is great.Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois is structured as an independent regional provider of health insurance policies for the residents of Illinois. It is a private company, even though it is part of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Association, one of the earliest managed health care insurance companies in the U.S. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois was founded in 1936 and is a division of the Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC). All together, these companies offer some form of low cost health insurance coverage in all states of the union.

Thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
