Hi,

I've had the sleeve surgery about one year ago was weighing about 190 pounds & lost 40 pounds. Just love the feeling of not being over weight & more healthy. The past 6 months I've had chest pains only three times severe. When had the first pain went to the doctor, he checked me & said it was acid reflux. Today in church had to leave because of severe chest pain this pain comes from behind my heart to the front of the heart, not in my throat. The last time I ate was last night around 7:00 pm & had a snack around 9:00pm. This pain began around 9:30am this morning haven't eaten anything. The pain comes every 20 to 30 minutes but is getting milder. How can this be acid reflux when I haven't had food?

I don't take the medicine for acid reflux because i don't have heart burn. I can't believe this is acid reflux.

You don't have to have heartburn to have acid reflux, nor do you have to have eaten anything. Take an antacid and see if it helps. If it does, well, then you know it's acid. You are probably concerned that it is sleeve-related or your heart, but you are pretty far out to have a sleeve complication and heart problems generally don't cause pain in the heart.

I felt pain like that because of my gallbladder and had to have emergency surgery to remove it! Hope you start feeling better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
