Microwave Omelettes

I'm still in the mushy stage and I have been making omelettes with the liquid eggs in a box. I prefer them microwaved because when i tried it on the stove all my meat was crumbling out. I was watching my husband make a homemade "eggmcmuffin" and completely forgot that I used nuke my eggs. :P

Basically I take a ceramic/microwave safe bowl and spray it with pam or any nonstick cooking spray. I measure out about 3.5oz of liquid eggs (i love the southwestern style with the peppers in it) and chop small pieces of a half a piece of deli turkey into it, a dash of h2o to keep it from drying out and towards the last minute or so in the microwave I stop and throw some fat free chedder cheese shreds on it. A couple of minutes into cooking I usually stop it and flip it over as well. :)

how long do you cook it? I bought egg whites today - this sounds so easy and filing!

This reminds me of that trick about putting all the ingredients for an omelette into a plastic zip lock bag and boiling it. It comes out just right!

The microwave idea seems much easier and less messysmile.gif

yea it is easy. growing up my sister always made her own mcmuffins like this. usually for one single egg its 2 mins flat but when i use a 3.5 oz of liquid eggs, with the turkey bits it usually ends up for 3 1/2 to 4 mins. ^_^

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
