Hello everyone! I had my sleeve surgery done on 5/12/11. I am still having loose stool after doing the pre op stuff of Clear liquids and Miralax. Will it stop? I am trying to drink this is my 3rd day it is hard just don't feel like it. Can anyone please give me advice? I don't want to mess up and become dehydrated. Should I be drinking more Protein Shakes I drank most of a 5 oz one this morning. Just not that hunger.

I was 4/27 and am still not exactly solid. It's not terrible, but not back to normal.

Most of the people who attend my support group are gastric bypass and they all talk about horrible Constipation that sets in very shortly after surgery. I don't know if this is a sleeve difference or not. I know their suger intake is monitored very closely compared to sleeve.

How much sugar is in your Protein shake? Were they provided to you or did you pick them yourself? I do find I have to watch the sugar. Even though we don't dump, it is still going through us much faster than before and can impact your system.

You need to be watching how many grams of Protein you are getting. When you say you drank 5 oz this morning, in what timeframe. That's actually a lot if it was one sitting, but it's hard to say without knowing how many grams of protein were in the drink.

Just some things to check. And yes, it's very stressful those first days trying to get things right and not cause yourself any harm. Make sure you get actual Fluid in these first days. The protein you will have to build up to.

I am fifth day and I think it is normal to have trouble drinking. It sounds if at least you CAN drink- I was hurting at first so that is great for you! I would set an alarm every fifteen minutes ad try to get a couple of ounces down. You really need to watch getting dehydrated, especially with diarrhea - I also have that and am really being vigilant as I do not want to end up in the er on an iv. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
