I'll be praying for a fast, quick, non event surgery for you. Just don't worry, try to get a good nights sleep and leave it in God's hands. Let us know how you are feeling.

Good luck,

Sherri

I'm having surgery on my knee on July 7, but I'm getting an epidural. Still I get my stitches out on the 14th and have my band surgery on the 18th. I've handed it over to God, and I truly believe that is the best way to go. I wish you lots of luck. I had my gall bladder out a couple years ago and recovered really quickly from it.

I had my surgery and it went great. The only problem I am having is that one of the small holes(incisions) is burning like FIRE, I am not in pain anywhere else but this is burning so bad I can't go to sleep. I am so tired, I have taken 3 moraphin pills and two benadril (not all at once). I called the doc to see if he could call in stronger meds but he is in surgery and not sure when he will get out. and even then its too late to get a pain meds scrip tonight because it has to be hand writen, not called in.

I was not expecting this, with all three of my c-sections I never took any of the meds they gave me, I usually have a very high tollerence for pain, but this burning is for the birds.... I hope I feel better tomorrow... talk to you guys in the morning.... thanks for the prayers...

So sorry you will be having this surgery today!!! It is better if you get taken care of...but that never makes it easier!! (((I had my gallbladder removed 1 month before my band surgery)))...... Wishing you a speedy recovery. Have you already been banded or are you having that done soon as well??

Glad you are doing well after surgery.. hope you feel even better tomorrow!!! Keep us posted!!

Hi Jen, I had my gallbladder removed last friday (gallstone is huge!!) and considering they used to keep patients in for 5 days post-op pat yourself on the back for doing so well!!

The opening in my belly button is a bit sore as it came open a bit (glue isn't as super as it once was!!) but I make sure it stays dry and put anti-septic cream on it and seems to be ok now.

If your wound is still getting hot, you may have a slight infection and need some antibiotics.

We have just survived what was once classed as major surgery girl.....WE ARE GREAT!!!

Good luck with the recovery...and here's to no more pain!!

Its a pretty easy surgery. Mine was a bit more complicated because I was admitted through ER and had to stay in the hospital 4 days. I think you should come through with flying colors. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
