tztmama 0 Posted June 30, 2006 Hey there all. As usual I was at work (teaching summer school) and folks I haven't seen for a year commented on my weight loss. Today one teacher's aide told me that her girlfriend had WLS and that her local burn center will pay for tummy tucks if you donate your skin. Kind of weird but I think that even if I have to pay for my TT I'd like to donate my extra skin to burn victims...............I'll investigate it and post my findings in a new thread. Anyone have info???
leatha_g 4 Posted June 30, 2006 I've heard this was pretty much an urban legend type thing. I think burn centers have much more rigid guidelines for donor tissue. Just my thoughts..
Constance 0 Posted June 30, 2006 Yeah, I looked into this right away. Unfortunately, it just isn't feasible. http://www.traumaburn.org/traumaburn/resources/faq.asp
FunnyDuddies 6 Posted June 30, 2006 Yup. Urban legend. But if you can document that your extra skin is causing rashes, skin infections, or discomfort then your insurance might be able to cover it. Good luck!!
