San Fran bay area sleevers

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 weeks away from my vsg in Mexico. Going alone, is that a dumb idea? I feel like it is a safe clinic etc. Has anyone been to TJ Mexico to get this surgery on their own. How hard will it be to travel back home.?? Any helpful tips? Also anyone from my area done this before ? ( San Francisco bay area )

I'm going alone in 10 days. Many people go alone and feel totally safe. I'm not worried about the plane ride back because I'm in Phoenix and my flight will only be about an hour and a half. Probably won't be the most comfortable, but at least it will be short. Good luck with your surgery.

I flew Southwest out of Oakland to San Diego. I went alone and I did fine. I did not have my surgery in Tijuana but from what I have read, you are picked up at the airport and taken to the clinic. Loads of people on this forum have gone to TJ alone and have done fine. Pack light, lifting your bag into an overhead bin is a little bit hard when you're tired after surgery. Make sure it has wheels, you won't want to carry it. I will let others tell you their tips for your particular surgeon and clinic.

At least SW doesn't charge for checked baggage!

I am from Redwood City but I had my sleeve done locally on Monday.

You will be fine. I'm happy to help answer questions about the sleeve in general!

Thanks all. I moved my sleeve appt up. Going to tj in 6 weeks. Can't wait. And, yeah, my good friend Alena is going with me.

I can't answer your question about going to Mexico, but can tell you that I had my surgery with a San Francisco Bay area Dr.!!

Dr. David Fisher from Kaiser. He was awesome! From begining to end no problems what so ever!

Best of luck to you!

Kelly

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
