Gone for Good Club - July 2006

Recommended Posts

Woohoo! Im all up for a new challenge. Something fresh and exciting. Cant wait to see who takes on the club this month. This could be fun passing it around to members who want a shot at being the head Cheer person! That's what this club is all about. It's OURS! Yipee!! :(

I see two willing folks so far. Mo, you came up with a challenge idea first. You want first shot? Then Canadian Sunshine could give it a go next month? Speak up woman! Now's your chance. :)

I would be happy to take charge of the club for a month in the future. This club has really held my hand as I've lost weight all summer.

In July, I've lost 12 lbs, PLUS crossed over to a 69 BMI. I was so sick of the 70's.

As far as challenges for August, I love the BMI challenge. Though I know it will take me several months to see 59.

:clap2: :clap2: Gone for Good Club ROCKS!!:clap2: :clap2:

I vote "yes" for the 6 days of exercise... I am doing it already anyways. Even though I don't hold out much hope for a big loss in any given month, I do feel great about how good I'm doing with my daily workouts. Even if my scale creeps along I will not loose my momentum with my exercise program.

Emilee- Way to go! You should be VERY proud!:clap2:

I would just like to update my stats. I have been traveling for my job all summer and have had a computer that spent more time down than up...i hope to be out here more often come fall.

Maggie63- H 285/ S 277/ J 235/ G 190/ C 214 (-71 lbs total)

i do have some good news....my ins company denied me (health america) so i self paid. i filed an appeal (actually 3) and found out a few weeks back they reversed thier decision and they are going to reimburse me!!

i hope this decision helps others trying to get approved. fighting it is difficult but worth the battle.

joyce GA...congrats on how well you are doing...and everyone else too!!

more later...i came home to a leak from my ceiling...i have a plumber here checking it out.

P'Nut - naw - not enough sanity in my life right now AND college starts back up again that last week of August and I will be overloaded by then. Thanks for the offer - pass it on - who wants August?

(if we do a BMI challenge I recommend that someone copy/paste ONE BMI chart so everyone is on the same page with a starting BMI - not all charts are treated equally lol)

Mo declined...Canadasunshine spoke up next, then Joyce for September?

So, CS, you got August? I'll be looking for your pom-poms!!!!

Wow, it's alot with a challenge, but I'm in for a lower BMI challenge. I *just* barely fell into Overweight and out of Obese, so I'd really like to get it down more, more, more! If I need to walk 6 days a week, I'm in!

So - I was laying in bed falling asleep last night and thought - hmm....

BMI doesn't change that much in a month - a person has to lose on average 10 lbs to get it to drop 2 points (approx) -- so how about if we do this:

BMI change (1 pt for each drop in total # [not tenths] + Weight Loss = Total Points

And P'Nut - can we keep using the same scorecard (please) and add BMI and BONUS POINTS for 6 days of exercise? (with one day off)

What does everyone think?

*And a SECOND BONUS: Again, an honesty policy - you get 5 extra points for the month if you DROP one TEMPTING FOOD for the entire month? You have to list what it is - and avoid it like the plague! lol anyone????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
