If I understand correctly, Funny simply volunteered to do the GFG Club just to give P'Nut a break. I never heard P'Nut complain or say she was going anywhere, I just think Funny just volunteered to be nice. It can be a lot of work to do all the stats every week.

Am I understanding correctly?!? P'Nut is still here, just not the one updating the stats & everything. :)

Hey there folks. I have to make an apology to you all, but I mostly have to apologize to Pnut. I made an error in judgement by creating this thread. This is Pnut's baby, and it was not my place to assume that she was not going to do it, or try to take on the duties for the month to give her a break. it was something that i needed to discuss with her first. I didn't. My heart was in the right place, but my head was not. I have been under a lot of stress and living on caffeine for the last 2.5 days, and was not thinking clearly. I am so sorry Susan. Truly I am. I could not replace you, not in a million years, and I never would have done something that i thought you would take offense to.

So y'all, I want you to know that I feel just awful that I made Pnut upset, and that I came across as replacing her. I have a feeling some others perceive this to be my intentions, and they would be wrong. I gladly hand this back over to Pnut, or whom ever she would like to have handle it. I am backing away. This place is consuming too much of my time, and now has messed up a very dear friendship that I once had. I will be away with my upcoming surgery, anyway.

Amy

Oy vey.....I seriously doubt that Susan has a problem with Funny starting the new thread for the July Gone For Good Club so that people can post their Wednesday weigh ins. They are, after all, good friends. I could be wrong, but it's just a feeling that I have.

Furthermore, if I remember correctly, the Club was originally HeatherGurl's idea and P'Nut took on the challenge because Heather was unable to devote enough time to it due to her work/personal schedule.

Susan has done a great job with the challenges/threads but if she's in need of a break, I see nothing wrong with someone helping out until she returns.

Pnut has done a fantastic job!! I could never imagine trying to replace her. But she was hurt by this, and I feel really bad. She stated that she was taking a break from the challenge, but not from handling the upkeep of the threads. I assumed, and stepped in as a kind gesture only. Just to give her a break. That is all. But I did so without asking if she wanted me to. That was a bonehead move on my part. :)

Funny, it's ok girl! I'm happy this thread is here. Let's just move forward and make it count.

Let's have fun at weigh ins. I want to be 180 by next week when Tricia comes or 179. Wow, imagine 179, i'd sh#$%t meself.

Ok folks.. listen up. Funny did step in to help me out. She felt she was doing me a favor and I appreciate that. So this month's thread will be kept going as it was begun. Funny will update for us, and I would expect that she'll also be adding up the scorecards and announcing the winner of the June Challenge. :)

No biggie.

This isn't MY club. HeatherGurl and I started it so there would be a club that belonged to the club members, not just to the person with their name on the first post. And that's how it remains. I certainly don't want this to turn into a split group of people who gossip and point fingers at each other. It's seriously no big deal. As Kathy said, what difference does it make who posts what. The purpose of this club is not to glorify any one person. It's to provide support, encouragement, and love for the members. Funny was doing just that when she stepped in to lighten my load. That's what's important right? So shup now, and get back to those situps ya losers! *grins*

*hugs to all*

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
