I know it's normal, but I'm still freaking out (Stall?)

Recommended Posts

I know from reading the board that it's normal, Some people stall after 1 week some people stall after 3 weeks. It's NORMAL. So why am I freaking out that the scale hasn't moved in over a week (2wks out now)? I keep wondering if I'm doing something wrong, but really I'm topping out at 800 calories per day on average, so even if I was eating nothing but junk (which I'm not) one would think that the scale would move down simply from the lack of calories.

I'm drinking at minimum 64oz of Water per day usually it's closer to 70oz Like I said I'm averaging 800 calories per day, 60-70 grams of Protein 40-50 carbs 20-40 grams of fat. Is there anything else I should be doing?

I had the exact same thing. Mine broke without me doing anything special--just suddenly dropped 4 pounds over the weekend after a week of staying the same. I am nowhere near you on calorie intake, though--my sleeve doesn't like a lot of stuff yet, so I'm having to take it really slow and easy.

Hang in there! Sounds like you're doing all the right things. Are you walking? Getting moving sometimes makes the difference.

Cheers!

Meg

I've been in denial about my stall :( It started just after the 3 week mark and haven't lost but 1 pound in almost 3 weeks......I have lost inches and am trying to hold on to that. I guess I will head over to the tracker thing and log food for a week or so and see if that helps.

It is normal and, really, only time will change it. I don't weigh very often, so I am not sure exactly when and how long my stall was. I just didn't weigh myself week 3-5. And, in that time only lost one pound. Since then I have bounced back to losing 1 to 2 pounds a week.

Seriously. it's normal. You'd be better off not weighing for 10 days and see what happens.

I know it's hard, but you'll feel better.

Are you guys outta your stall yet? I'm at week 3 and haven't lost a pound since Monday. I am totally prepared for the 3 week stall everyone goes through but I'm on full liquids and am having a lot of issues getting anything think down. I'm able to get blended creamed Soup, blended greek yogurt, and nectar Protein Water... but that's seriously it! I'm not even close to getting 64oz of fluids in, and maybe get 60g of Protein in a day.... I'm so sad! I was so excited to drink my yummy chocolate Protein shakes, but NOPE, they dont go down!

So, I was just wondering if ya'll were able to break your stall and at which week did it break? For me, it's not like I can up my calorie intake, or increase protein, etc. I have come to accept the fact that it's gonna take me a while longer to move through the stages. But any advice would be appreciated!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
