Supposedly we aren't supposed to have "dumping syndrome" after the sleeve. Are you keeping well hydrated? You can get feverish and chills w/dehydration. Maybe someone else on here has some ideas. I wasn't able to tolerate nutrition at 4 days out.

Is this the first time you are tying dairy??? Some become intolerant to lactose. Maybe this is your problem?? Sleever's aren't supposed to dump, so I don't think this is the problem. Just my guess.

Feel better!

Kelly

Some can't tolerate soy products and others can't eat sugar.

I have also heard that we don't get dumping syndrome, but everyone is different so who knows? I know that my sister had the same symptoms as dumping when her gallbladder needed to come out.

I have experienced the chills, heart racing, nausea and diarrhea after eating anything with milk or a Protein shake. Can't tolerate either. I was lactose intolerant before surgery, but not to this degree. I have read that it slacks up a bit further out from surgery so that is good news.

I hope you feel better soon!

Ok, I'm having horrible cramps, diareha, nausia, and chills. I've felt perfect until now...4 days post op. about 45min. Ago I had a few sips of my first Protein shake, which was 4oz Silk soy milk, 4 oz Water, 3 ice cubes, 1Tbs peanut creamy Peanut Butter, and one scoop of my Protein powder. Kind of freaking out a bit!

The exact thing happened to me four days out(same symptoms and all). I was told to get a DanActive Pro biotic yogurt drink. The way it was explained was that sometimes all of the antibiotics gets rid of the good bacteria as well as the bad. This imbalance causes problems. The DanActive creates balance. After taking that, I was better within a few hours. Everything returned to normal. Ask your doctor first. Hope this helps.

Oh you guys, thank you. Feeling a bit better, just scared the heck out of me. I did soy Protein drinks just fine pre-op but think I'll be scared to try it again...definitely not in the near future. Hoping this last bit wears off so I can get some sleep tonight.

Quick ? Though...is it ok to be adding Peanut Butter (not that I'll ever want that again), sf pudding mix, sf Torini Syrup, sf mocha mix, etc. Or should I just stick to the nasty stuff of Water and Protein mix?

Several post op sleevers in the past mentioned that Peanut Butter was the cause of feelin odd racing heart and having to lay down for awhile till it passed. You may want to stay away from peanut butter for a little while. You should always introduce new foods one at a time to see how your body reacts to them this early out. Your body is a little peeved at you so take it slow and introduce one new food per day to gauge how it affects you. If adversly wait a couple of weeks and try again.

I have had dumping syndrome and I asked Dr. Aceves about it. It is not true that sleevers don't dump. He said certain people do react that way due to too much sugar or fat being dumped into the blood stream too fast due to our stomachs being too tiny.

I get it if I eat something that is both high in fat and high in sugar. The first time I got it from a tiny piece of wedding cake.

It is okay to put that stuff in your Protein drinks if your doctor has not advised you that you need to be on Clear liquids.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
