Hi Everyone,

I thought about how much WLS cost and then I sat down and did a little calculation on what I would save each month. I was amazed when I figured out that is sure didn’t take me long to pay myself back because I wasn’t spending as much for food, medication, doctor’s visits, eating out and less gas for my car because I walked a lot more and did my shopping on my walks.

Yes self-pay does cost us more. I gave up waiting for an insurance company to say yes, because I knew that they just weren’t going to do it and I wasn’t willing to give away any more days of my life. I knew Dr. Aceves was the best and that was just where I was going.

Check out my numbers and think about how fast you actually recover your initial investment in yourself.

How long it took me to pay myself back

for my WLS because I was saving each

month because I wasn't eating as much

or going to the doctor as much and

taking less medication.

So at the end of 17 months I had saved

enough money to pay myself back what I

spent for the cost of my WLS. AREN'T YOU WORTH THE COST OF THE SURGERY?

Take care, and be happy,

I was just talking to my hubby about this today! We are saving at least that because we used to eat out mulpile times a week. That's at least a couple hundred right there. Plus, we never seen our gas last a whole week! Yay for walking!! Plus the amount of pop we went thru was crazy!! Can you imagine the saving if you used to smoke or drink??? Crazy savings!!

Hi,

Not everyone looks at all the saving that they have. Congratulations on your thought process and enjoying your saving along with your weight loss. Someone said this and I told her I was going to use it. Some people make care payments she is making a "body payment". I just liked how she put it, and she is so right.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Great post!! My husband mentioned this the other night too as he has already started taking less money out of the checking account each week for "entertainment" as we don't spend as much eating out. I have become the ultimate cheap date! We used to eat out a LOT and we eat out less now plus when we do eat out, I am ordering less and still taking food home.

I will have to be careful not to spend all of the savings on new clothes though as it is sure fun to fit into a smaller size! :D

Oh Yes,

The smaller clothes are a blast to be able to go out and buy. I shop a lot of sales and on line and have found some really great buy. I am a very lucky person because my son has a great job with NIKE in Beaverton, OR at their world wide headquarters, and I get some incredible discounts on clothing. So I spend money on clothing just like others do, but I do have an advantage.

It truly is a saving. My husband also says what a cheap date I am. We share a lot of meal and I still can't eat all of it when we split a meal. They just give out too much food when you go out and eat.

I am happy that what I wrote makes you see that you are winning all the way around, money and new clothes and you are no longer unhealthy. Congratulations to you.

Hugs,

Suzanne

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
