I finally feel I have a grip on my diet. I can now move around with out a walker, still need the cane for long outings and I'm right at 100 pounds lost.

Today, feeling very proud of my self, I post on Facebook a picture of my small lunch meat, cheese and crackers about 210 cal and 18 g of Protein.

My total intake for the day will be 987 cal, 59g protein and 50 oz of Fluid. I was so proud that after 6 months I'm getting it. Hell, after my whole life I'm getting it.

When one of my most loyal supporters chimed in "You need to look into EET fitness. me and so n so are doing it. You are Starving yourself to death"

Why do they do that? 2 women, that yes they care about me, but neither have ever been more then 20 pounds over weight their whole lives. Both are also 5' 10" knock outs.

I just needed to vent to some one that can understand. I have lots of supporters, but only one person I personally know has been through this.

Feel defeated. blaahpost-51650-13813668133496_thumb.png

This is what I had for lunch.

I find that there are people out there who truly believe they own the rights to other peoples bodies. Your lunch looks great and you are doing what you need to be doing for yourself. I would say thank you for your input to your "friend" and tell her if I want your opinion in the future I will ask for it.

Congratulations on the 100lbs lost!!! Keep up the great progress.

Lilly you are so right. I was very nice in declining her advice, but I have not heard back from her, but if I do I will use that very same tack. She kicked the hell out of me meaning to or not. MeMeMEE I love your name. I sing and that's bring back memories. Congrats on the journey your starting I would not trade mine even thought I get kicked once and awhile. Let me know when you get your surgery date. I'm happy to meet you both.

Hey Looou, I have had no negativity till now, but will heed the advise. I see you use my fitnesspal. Love it, but have to be careful there too. Obesity help too. So far this has been the most positive board, but then we are all hopefully here for the same thing.

Hey congrats to you only 64 lbs to go. I can't "weight" to get there too. ;-)

First of all, CONGRATS ON 100 POUNDS LOST!!! Second, what you are eating is a NORMAL serving. Most don't even know what that looks like, and yes even thin skinny folks. They are lucky they can eat more and not gain. However, it's not for them to tell you, you are starving yourself because you aren't.

I wouldn't even respond to be honest, how do you respond to that? You can simply say that you are eating a single serving - nothing more nothing less, and it is working for you. They can take it or they can leave it.

Wishing you well on the rest of your journey!

I just got an apology. She did not know I was working with a Dr. and forgot I had WLS. Nice.

I have to say at least she did apologise for her behaviour. Too bad she did it in the first place, but I would run with the apology and hope that she is not so inconsiderate in the future.

You know what you are doing and we all understand here. Here is to your continued success!!!

Some people, especially thin people to overweight people think they have the "right" to give advise on something they have no idea what they are talking about. "if you did this" "if you do that" blah blah blah. They do not know the struggle of being overweight and what it does to a person inside and out. It is as shame.

No matter how much weight we have to lose whether it be 50lbs or 250lbs it is a battle and you have chosen to fight that battle with the right weapon. You are doing great! 100lbs is such an accomplishment and I have no doubt you will make your goal and then some.

I know its hard, but don't let her or anyone else discourage you on your journey. Congratulations on your success so far!

Raine

Well, you've done it, you have made me cry. Raine, Lilly, Diva, venuesblue, Kelly. MeMeMEE and Looou how amazing it is to look at the weight and the wait along with the struggles you have all endured. I see it under each of your comments, your tickers and signatures and your important dates you truly know where I'm at. I so proud that I vented cause it has made me feel good. You made me feel good. Here is to this journey at every stage we are at and here to the 100's of pound no longer on our backs. Cheers.

That's gonna be my new signature. x's o's

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
