OMG! I am cleared for surgery!

Recommended Posts

Wow- just wow.

After my doctor gave me until today at 1pm to see my GP and be evaluated I have been drinking enough Water to float an armada (good practice!) hitting zicam, airborne and emergen-c....and praying.

Also steaming , something I have always hated since I burn myself - then my husband pointed out all I needed to do was stand up taller! d'uh!

I accidentally slept with the fan on since it was a little warm last night and woke with a congested nose- that always happens when I sleep with the fan on. I felt ., again, much much better- as I have each day since Tuesday, the only day I really felt sick during this cold.

I meanwhile had decided whatever will be will be- certainly don't want to be sick for surgery and will let my doctor decide.

I still sound congested and throaty, but have not had a cough or a fever.

My doctor listened to my chest, looked in my ears, throat, and nose- and pronounced me fit for surgery!

She will send a quick note to my surgeon but said she sees no problem!

The only caveat is that if I get worse I need to notify them immediately if I am so they can cancel.

WOW! WOW! WOW!

I am on again for Monday! Since there are at least 10 of us here on VST I was so sad thinking I would not be with my sleeve sistahs (and brothas if there is one- no one has chimed in for that date yet).

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

Today I weighed down 16 pounds since starting my liquids- and the funny thing is- my husband and son shot a wedding in Muir Woods at 8am and stopped at our favorite pizza place in SF on the way home. My husband got me a small pizza with my fave toppings in case my surgery was canceled- and that probably sealed the deal

:). I was wondering what the next chapter in the Adventures of Meggie would hold. Only three days away from the primo drugs. I'm excited for you and a little jealous because I miss all the valium you get fed. It's like somebody turned on the benzo spigot and now, alas, the well is dry. Sure was fun while it lasted though.

Good to know you're still on the fast bus, congrats :)

So happy for you meggiep. I know you would have been so disappointed if the surgery had to be put off. I will be waiting to hear from you when you feel like posting!

See you on the loser's bench!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
