Dr.C ...ever heard of this?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am curious if anyone was physically unable to be banded? This is what happened to me. I thought I was ready for every possible complications...I guess I was EXCEPT for non-placement. Never really understood this was a rare possibility. I won't say it wasn't mentioned, but I will say I have no recollection of it ever being mentioned.:) Although I am sure somewhere in waiver we all sign prior to surgery (in the very small print) it is probably listed. Let me say, I researched & did more reseach and finally

I picked an expirenced surgeon w/ a great record, and a world renowed hospital. I was told it was due to abnormality in my anatomy I was unabled to be banded.

I had a second attempt at band placement by my original doctor assited by another world class lap-band doctor, preformed @ same hospital. The second attempt was also aborted only this time due to scare tissue (internal) from the first attempt. I would still have lap band placed if it was viable possibility. So I guess I looking for a person who may have had band placed after several failed attempts & lots of scar tissue.

While it has never happened to me, I have heard of it happening. If you had a 2nd attempt with one of the Australian docs (if it is who I think it is, which it probably is) you're not going to find more experience or skill than that. If you really want to pursue it again, the only way I would even think about it is to lose a significant amount of weight prior to surgery through a very-low-calorie-diet (google VLCD) and then it might be a possibility.

I know it sucks to lose weight the hard way and then get a band, but it would be worth it in the long run. (Not to imply that banding is 'easy' but you get my drift).

Good luck,

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
