I'm cheerier but still ketosis-less

Recommended Posts

:) I think that since I've been low on carbs for 5 days I'm way more cheerful. I've gotten a lot more done around my house and my family seems to like me better these days but I'm still not in Ketosis. I have the stick things and I barely have a trace....is this okay or normal?

Does your doc want you in ketosis? Make sure you're getting lots of water!

:)

From what I understand, you can have the benefits of ketosis without enough ketones to show up in your urine. You might also be able to tell by your breath or whether your urine has a stronger smell than usual... (gross, I know! :Banane56: )

If your weight continues to drop 1-2 lbs a week even with only the trace ketones in your urine, you are probably burning fat just fine!

It made some reference to ketosis in my pre op....that when you going into Ketosis is when your liver starts shrinking. I guess I won't worry much about it. I'm keeping my carbs low and I've lost 10 lbs since Saturday so I think I should be okay.

Ketosis is a great state to be in for weight loss, just not safe for your whole life.

How many carbs are you consuming a day?

Careful for leg cramps and/or brain fog. I heard from a health instructor that these can happen if one is in ketosis.

If the stick thing shows "trace" you are there sister, don't worry about turnning the stick a darker color...You feel good and you are losing weight, what else could you ask for?

I went on a low carb diet about three years ago & it took me a long time to get in ketotis also. I had to keep my carbs down below 15 to stay there. It really works if you can stay away from the carbs. Keep drinking Water & keep the carbs down, way down! I bet you will get here...it takes a couple weeks or so. Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
