Hmmm...fell off the wagon it seems

Recommended Posts

At first I was stalled, and now I have gained a pound and a half. then i looked at my lunch yesterday and realized i was in real trouble. :( i was reverting back to old habits and was getting comfortable doing it. So someone told me about the 5 day pouch test, and so i started that today. Gotta get that old feeling back, and remember the right way to eat. Funny how easy it was, even tho i was so excited about my weight loss, that i would stray back into old habits. It was way easier than i thought. It wasn't neccesarily the volume as much as it was the choices. eating on the run, and loading up on carbs, and fatty food. I guess I can be happy that at least i recognized the problem and am more than anxious to remedy it before i get totally out of hand. so day 1 of 5dpt begins and we shall see what happens.

oh, also i heard that we should get our body weight in Protein everyday? has anyone else heard this? I shoot for 60...how about you guys?

I've never heard of this... that would mean at my heaviest I would have had to eat 275 g of protein! I don't think that's possible. I try to hit 60 g every day. Good luck to you.

The only time I have ever heard anything remotely similar to that was during pregnancy when I was starting to develop high bp. I was told to eat HALF my body weight in grams of Protein every day. High protein diets in pregnancy work to lower bp and keep your body from breaking down cells to feed itself.

I am very curious to see how the 5DPT works out for you. I am having such issues with carbs that I'm ready to just go crazy! I cannot for the life of me stop eating them. It wouldn't be so bad if they were all healthy carbs like fruit and veggies, but in addition to that i'm having Cookies, cake, donuts, English muffins, sandwiches, and just about anything i can get my scrawny fingers on!!

If that 5DPT works for you to get the carbs out, and get you back on track, I will try it! But i'm starting to hate Protein shakes so much!!!

Good Luck!

Patti

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
