I'm 4 days post op and I've been feeling very weak these last 2 days. All I want to do is sleep. I have no energy and feel really run down. I've been struggling trying to get a clear Protein I can drink. I did find muscle milk protein Water that has 10 grams of protein that is good so I'm trying to get that along with broth. Here's my question, the Protein Drink is 16 oz and I can drink that maybe in 30-60 minutes without much discomfort. Is that normal? I read that folks drink 1/2 a cup of water and feel stuffed. I don't know if I'm doing something to hurt my tummy and thought I'd ask.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks friends.

liquids generally go right through unless your stomach is very swollen. Don't worry about liquids at all; you will feel restriction when you start to eat real food.< /p>

It is different for everyone. The fact that you can is great! Keep yourself hydrated and you will start to feel better in a few days. I am on day 8 and am feeling really good now so it does get better. Congrats on your sleeve!

Normal. Your body is adjusting to surgery. You do realize you had a majority portion of your stomach ripped out? Of course you are tired. Hopefully this will pass soon, but be aware you are going to have a new normal and that might not happen this week or even this month. Stomach is healing. Remember to rest, hydrate and walk. Repeat.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I was told to focus more on hydration that early out then on protein! Worry about the Protein more in a week or so and for now just rest and keep yourself VERY hydrated!!

As for the restriction, everyone is different. I was on the "small" side of things. In 30 mins I was lucky to get in 60cc of Water up until about 1-2 weeks out! I was VERY Swollen!

You've got the sleeve I dreamed of. I can get about 2 ounces of anything non-Water in 30 minutes and it goes down like it's hitting a wall. It sounds like you are sipping it down so that's good.

I'm 9 days out and the strength comes and goes. I also had my gall bladder removed and have a slight infection at the drain sight. Time is sort of distorted for me. It feels like it's been a lot longer than it has been so I have to keep reminding myself to be patient. Age, previous health, a lot of things play into how fast you will bounce back but it sounds like you are doing well overall.

Thanks Everyone, I'm not freaking out as much now that you all seem to think its okay. I will work on getting liquids and hydrate. Next week I can start on on Clear Liquids so that will be easier for me to drink the Protein I like. I can't thank you enough for your encouragement and feedback it has helped keep me sain. : )

I was exhausted for almost 6 weeks - I think everyone is a little bit different. Count yourself lucky if you can get that much hydration in!

Sounds like you're doing good! Water or water consistancy goes through pretty quickly so thats why your not feeling full. I'm 24 days out and honestly have no idea what full feels like. LOL. My doc asked me about it yesterday, but he said its common not to know how full feels yet. He said when I get full, I'll know it! Sooo, guess I'll have to work on it! Good luck...speedy healing! ps, went back to work about 2 1/2 weeks out...rough for @ 2 days then got back into the flow. You have good days and exhausting days while your body adjusts to this HUGE change!

4 days post op I had no problem getting in my 64oz of Fluid a day. My swelling went down fast and that is why. Others the swelling remains for awhile which makes it harder to get the required fluids in. I am up to 96 oz of fluids in a day and I could do more but have been sticking to this amount. Keep up the fluids and remember your liquid Proteins also count towards your fluid intake. Your energy will pick up. Keep up the great progress.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
