Shanny 70 Posted May 5, 2011 So, I got my labs back today. Everything was great but they said that my good cholesterol is low - 33. I don't even know what that means. Apparently I need to eat more foods with higher good cholesterol, but I don't even know what they are. Nutrition is hella new to me. I'm already struggling to get 3 meals a day and 1 snack of Protein in a day. Any suggestions?
AutumnLily 77 Posted May 5, 2011 Good cholesterol is called HDL (high density lipoproteins) they are called good because they travel around your blood system picking up the extra bad cholesterol LDL (low density lipoproteins) and escorts them back to the liver to be processed. Foods that will raise your HDL and not your LDL are Fish (salmon, tuna, halibut things high in Omega 3 fatty acids) Nuts (almonds walnuts and cashews), Apples, oatmeal, Beans, Olive oil and my favourite Red wine (in moderation). Google, Bing what ever you use check out foods high in HDL. Hope this helps.
