I LOVE tuna steaks and tuna burgers. I also love Paula Dean. Trader Joes sells tuna steaks shapped like burgers and they are thinner... they are pretty tasty on the grill.

Let me know how they turn out :grouphug: mmmmmm don't forget the tarter sauce.

I love Paula as well. That is basically her recipe for Salmon Croquettes (Patties), just substitute the salmon for the tuna and pan fry them in a little canola oil! They are yummy, just made them for supper last night! I'll have to try the Tuna burgers.. Sounds goood!

Below is the exact Recipe for the Salmon Croquettes:

2 fillets canned salmon, flaked

1 egg, beaten

2 tablespoons green onions, diced (I just dice up a 1/4 of a vidalia onion)

1/2 cup bread crumbs

Vegetable oil, for frying

Over medium heat, heat oil in a medium skillet. Combine canned salmon, beaten egg, green onions and 1/4 cup bread crumbs. Form into patties and dust with additional bread crumbs. Fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side.

I call them tuna cakes, like salmon cakes. A girlfriend gave me receipe about 15 years ago. I put mine in a skillet because mine would fall apart a bit and I put ketchup on mine.

NJChick, I love Trader Joes. I need to go get some 21 seasoning today or tomorrow.

Oh my gosh these sound so good. I don't eat beef and don't really like turkey, so I am a little sick of chicken. Thanks for the great ideas.

NJchick I sill have to try their pure Protein. While I was in line, across from the man had at 8 cans of pure Protein drinks.

Do you buy their greeting cards? They are only 99 cents and they are so cute.

Lisanjason-they are by EAS, they are the Advant Edge Low Carb, that I buy, my favorite protien drink at only 100 calories - they have alot of flavors but it's hard to find most of them! My Kroger store carries the coffee and carmel ones....myTom Thumb used to carry a Cookies and cream one that's very good. Ask your local grocer if they can order this flavor for you. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
