What position do you sleep in?

Recommended Posts

For all of the people that have recently been sleeved, what position do you sleep in? I have always slept on my left side and a little on my right side. I have never been able to sleep on my back or stomach. How have you been able to sleep since surgery and when did it become comfortable to sleep on your side again?

Thanks.

Well I'm 3 weeks out and I'm a stomach sleeper and can really only lay on my back or my right side.. stomach and left side hurt to much still. left side is were the biggest incision is for some people. I mean its like only 1.5in. long but its were a lot of the work was done and were the stomach gets pulled out. It's not the most comfortable but you get a little used to it. Can't wait to go back to my stomach. Everyone is different on when they are able to go back to their normal way of sleeping

Ditto with justdance...I'm just under 3 weeks out, and I'm a side or stomach sleeper but can only sleep on my right side or back right now. I accidentally moved onto my stomach the other night and woke up in pain. For me, the left side is not only where the largest incision is, but also where they put the drain and where my port (from lap band) used to be.

I am 9 days out and for the first 2 nights post op i slept on my back or either in my big comfy chair.

from day 2-4 post op, i started side sleeping and on my back solely.

after that i was able to sleep on my tummy for about 45 mins at a time, then i'd rotate to the side and/or back

i'm a complete tummy sleeper so i'm loving it now lol smile.gif

I'm a side sleeper, the first two nights I slept on my back. The next night I could sleep on my right side but not my left side. I started sleeping on my left side about night 5. But I didn't have a drain, I would think that would make things difficult depending where that is.

I'm a side or stomach sleeper but can only sleep on my right side or back right now. I hope I'll be able to go back to stomach sleeping soon!

I absolutely cannot sleep on my back. I had a really flat pillow that I'd put under my tummy. The only time I took pain meds was at night that first week after going home so I could turn over at night. I used that pillow for a while though. It was a life saver!

I am a side sleeper and have slept on either side since having surgery, even at the hospital. My right side was a bit more sore, but it didn't interfere with my sleep at all. I didn't need any pain meds at home.

I am 10 days post op and can sleep on my stomach again. It's wonderful! The first 3-4 nights were difficult, not being able to get comfortable, getting up to the restroom, etc. But that has passed.

Yep I am with the pillow tip! I am a side sleeper and found it most comfortable to clutch a small firm pillow against my stomach to fall asleep. I usually lost it during the night, but it really helped me get to sleep or fall back asleep if I woke up. I took night-time pain meds for the first week or so. Good luck, a good night's rest is so important.

Four days post-op and I am back to sleeping on my right side (my preferred position). I can lay on my left side IF I position myself very carefully and stay very still. Once I got back into my favorite sleeping position, my nights went so much better.

I slept on my side 2 days after surgery...as long as I had my trusty pillow pile in front and behind me I was fine! Now I'm back to flip flopping like a fish all over...all night! I think my fiance liked it better when i was stuck in my pillow prison...haha.

I am 8 weeks out. It only took me a couple weeks to be able to sleep on my side. Once the pain of the incisions were healed I had no problems. I can sleep in any position I want now.

I had my surgery about a week and a half ago. I usually fall asleep on my right side and end up on my stomach, but I've been stuck on my back because of the soreness from the incisions. I've been walling myself in with pillows so I don't accidentally roll, but it's been better since I got my drain removed earlier this week.

I don't know why, but putting a big comforter pillow underneath my knees actually made it more comfortable to sleep on my back for a while...

I was sleeved on Tuesday and I am still way to sore to sleep on my side or stomach right now. I tried crawling into my bed last night and then had trouble getting back out so I slept in a recliner and will do so again tonight until some of this soreness goes away.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
