I have been getting my fluids pretty good everyday, my Protein intake is steadily going up and that is great! Moving around more and more everyday! Healing very nicely I might add, only take pain meds at bedtime. Cool, great, fan-freaking-tastic!

Except....my pills!!! I have been having a helluva time taking my daily pills. They have to be crushed, so I put them on some applesause, still got that gross bitter taste., Empress suggested mixing them in the applesause with some Water, same thing, but almost worse because I tasted the bitterness even more. My hubby and I were trying to think of different ways to get these things down and he said what about Jello shots? Crush the pill and put it in the center of the jello let it solidify and shoot it down. Its slippery, slidey so it should go down pretty easy. ***Does a happy dance*** It worked!!! Only tasted the jello and bam done. I'll have to spread them out throughout the day because 5 shots at once was a bit much on the new tummy and I would have to do that 2x a day, but oh joy oh joy, it worked. Hope this helps someone else that has to still take meds for a while.

That's awesome! I will totally be using that.

My post-op paperwork says "You will want to break the antibiotic in half before you take it. DO NOT CRUSH IT, it will make you vomit!! :("

Verbatim, including the sad face. LOL

Amazing thank you so much, as I can no longer take certain SR's, this has been quite a dilemma, as how to take regular meds, that are huge and need crushed. Thank you for sharing

I just cut my one pill in half and had no trouble at all----from the get-go.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
