Sap Soon,

I used Dr. Nirmal Jayaseelan at Medical City. I highly recommend him.

He answered all of my questions prior to surgery. Calmed my nerves right before surgery and now post-op I have my follow up visits with his nurse, but if he sees me in the hall or waiting to be seen by his nurse, he always asks how I'm doing. Overall a great experience. :D

Hi ~ I am using Dr Nick Nicholson at Baylor hospital, I haven't had my surgery yet (its Monday) but he and his office have been there EVERY step of the way and are the nicest people I have encountered in the medical field.

Good luck with your decision.

I just went for my first consult with Dr. Nicholson last week. I'm also in the medical field (medical billing) and was very impressed with his office. He was very kind and answered all my questions. His staff and I have emailed each other in the past couple of days regarding surgery info/questions I had.

Glad you liked him. Can't wait to see how your surgery goes.

Oh and I saw him at Baylor in Plano.

I am also having my sleeve on May 24th with Dr. Nicholson at the advice of a friend who had it done last year. I also liked Dr. Harry Meyers but I am a self pay and Nicholson had financing available!!! Good luck to you! Michelle...you too! I will be a couple of weeks after you!

I posted on the other link, but thought I would here as well. Everyone listed the doctors I recommended except for Dr. David Kim and my surgeon, Dr. James Davidson. You can't go wrong, you've got a list of top notch names, the best of the best! Again, good luck!

Thanks everyone. I had my first seminar with Dr. Nicholson earlier today (May 17), I have to say it went real well. I am going to be setting a follow up meeting with him. He mentioned that he has done about 7500 surgeries (lap band/gastric bypass/sleeve). I asked him specifically how many sleeves and he mentioned approximately 2000 (which is a good number I think). He has also performed on some high risk patients (with previous heart related diseases/patient waiting on heart transplant). Also, he said that they had 1 major complication (out of 2000) in a sleeve patient.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
