Libra... I had the same thing with my teeth. It was the back teeth. I was wondering if they were protesting lack of use. hahahaha. It did not feel good.

I've been getting a random hiccup here and there. Drives me nuts. And I agree..it does NOT feel good.

My clothes are starting to droop on me. My friends are calling me saggy Buns. hahaha. I've lost 20 pounds so far.

Abbsybug - that is so funny about the "nesting" thing. I hadn't thought of that as I don't have kids. But the night before my surgery, I was cleaning EVERYTHING...I mean...EVERYTHING.....baseboards, walls, you name it. I thought it was just nerves but it wasn't like I had an urge to do anything else...just clean! I thought I was turning into a crazy woman.

For the teeth - my teeth don't hurt yet, but hair does. Like when you have the flu and you brush you hair...it hurts. I know I'm not getting enough Protein though. So, my goal is to up that now...I've been getting dizzy and light headed....I'm sure this is all because of the Protein?

This is the first day I have felt pretty normal. I haven't been in escruciating pain, but have definitly felt the pain...today I am just feeling tightness around my port area....other than that, not too bad. I went back to work yesterday and I think I over did it, so I took today off.

I haven't heard anyone talk about the Lovanox....does everyone have to take this...boy are those shots starting to burn...ouchie!

Good luck to all...

Welcome Lisa, I start my liquid diet tomorrow too. Actually, my only requirement is Atkins style and clear liquid one day before surgery, but I am going to do liquids for a week because it seems more logical. LOL, I am a band wanna be. I have visited all my favorite restaurants over the last few days and said goodbye to food I know I won't be eating after. LOL.

Good luck today Jamie! :clap2:

LOL. The craziest thing has been happening to me. I have a mild form of anxiety, which I take daily medication for. And every now and then, I will have an attack, but it is usually related to meeting someone, crowded crazy stores, stuff like that, so it goes away pretty fast. Well.... I just realized at lunch today that I have been having an anxiety attack since yesterday. LOL. It's like I have taken heaps of "speed" pills or something. My hands are doing crazy things on their own. LOL for two days in a row now, I have gotten on the elavator and pushed the multiple wrong buttons. This morning I even hit the emergency button. ROFLMAO!!!! Yesterday, I was sitting at my desk typing and my hand reached over and tried to knock over my Water glass out of no where. Next thing you know, I'm wrestling with my Water cup trying to keep it from spilling. LOL!!! LOL!!! I am laughing so hard as I type this. I had no idea I would be this anxious. I have been reading how anxious everyone gets right before hand, but im a walking, talking, mile high goofball atm.

Okay, I am 7 days out and have felt wonderful up until tonight. I have the worse case of hiccups that I can recall! They hurt like he** and nothing is stopping them (water, holding my breath, etc.). I know the PBing can hurt the band, but what about hiccups??? Any suggestions on getting them to stop?

I know this goes against all our hopes, but try a teaspoon of table sugar for the hiccups - it really is only about 40 calories, and does work.

Call your anxiety doctor and get him to up your anxiety meds!! I'm on anxieyy pills and I had my doctor double my meds. Make sure your surgeon knows that you are on anti anxiety meds, because they will make sure you are calm!!

Before my surgery I was a mess too, but my good friend had gone through brain surgery and had come out AOK - and I kept thinking, they bring people back to life, do quadrouple heart bypasses, and heart, kidney and liver transplants. How difficult could it be to put a band around a stomach? Really, you will be OK, you will wake up, and be on pain medicine, not remember anything but going to sleep with nice nurses around you. Everyone will be nice to you. To the surgeon it's as simple as setting a broken bone, so think positive - You will be fine!!

Make sure your surgeon and anathesiologist know that you are anxious. I made darn sure both knew and I was "higer" than a kite leaving the pre-op area. All I remember is them putting the IV in and telling me they were going to give me some medicine to make me relax. Boy! Did I relax! All I remember after that is saying "weeeeeeeeeeeeee" as they rolled me out of the pre-op room and the lights turning on in the OR. :notagree Then I woke up in recovery and I was feeling "good" the rest of the day. :clap2:

Good Luck! We all had some type of anxiety before (and even after) our surgeries.

i am going to be having the procedure in September. it is good to read that so many people feel the same way. what is life when you are to tired to do anything? i don't want to go to my kids games because i am fat and don't have anything to wear, i don't look in mirrors. Basically I am limiting living because of my weight. i do worry about emotional eating which is what i do. i always want that "full" feeling. i worry that i will continue to eat. i am hoping that the lap band makes this difficult by making it so uncomfortable. excercise i can do, i just worry about controlling my mind. is anyone able to tell me if they are still hungry with the band. yes, i know it is a tool not a "miracle cure"

Losha-

If you are ready for the surgery, you are ready for a life change. I've been morbidly obese for 15 years, and you must realize that this is not a cure all, and that the liquid diet, the semi soft diet, and following your doctors orders will be your goal. I've had the band since 8/2/06, and even tonight, I realized that I ate my yogurt too fast. There will be days when you don't loose weight, and days when you do. It will stop the yoyo syndrome, and you won't be able to eat a lot at one time, but you will suceed if you follow your doctors orders, so that should be your goal - my best to you and good luck

Only some Drs use Lovenox, it's not common. I'm an RN and I've only had to teach a few pts the lovenox injection. My Dr just gave 1 injection of heparin pre-op. Lovenox does burn, I call it the afterburn. Good luck.

Serendipity-

You'll be peeing at short increments. Sit and put your hand under warm running Water. If you need to - bring your pillow in to hold against your tummy (not to help pee but to help pain).

Relax-keep drinking and you'll pee.

Thanks for the welcome everyone:o . Faybie I'll be thinking of you when I crack open my first Optifast in the morning:yuck: . Try not to even think about surgry day I just put it out of my mind and if I do think about it I just tell myself it's not that big of a deal. I have so much work to do ( because of no lifting for a few weeks ) that next Wed. will be here very quickly. I'm not a drug addict but I hope the doc has good pain medication because I have a very low pain tolorance. Most bandsters don't have major pain do they? Well any way It can't be as bad as having a baby:cool:

You gals are my inspiration:clap2:

Hi everyone,

I am not sure exactly how many questions I have, but I know there are a lot. I am scheduled for surgery on 8/30 and am trying to prepare. My doctor has me on a diet with Optifast shakes and a meal once or twice a day with only lean meat and a veggie. Sometimes a fruit. I think the biggest fear I have is the not knowing how I am going to feel post op. It seems most everyone has the gas pains and a lot have the port pain, but it's also very individualized. What about coffee? Has anyone's doc restricted coffee? I think I would die if I can't have coffee. I am going to preop class on Friday, hope it won't scare me off. :D Not everyone has the same types of pain. I'm hoping for the best.....wish me luck!

This is my first time posting but I have learned so much from lurking the month prior to surgery but I don't remember this problem...I was banded on 8/21 and feel like I'm doing pretty well. But there is this heaviness in my chest, what I would imagine a heart attack feeling like. I am telling myself that its just gas. Am I fooling myself?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
